Labour Party in Abia State,has unveiled Engr Emetu Ikechukwu as its Deputy Governorship candidate for the 2023 gubernatorial election.
The event which was held at the Alex Otti Campaign Office, Umuahia, also featured the inauguration of the Alex Otti Campaign Council,as well as Pro groups that would help drive the Labour Party message to the grassroots.
In his remarks while unveiling his running mate, Dr Alex Otti stated that the choice of Engr. Ikechukwu came after he embarked on serious prayers to God and consulted with stakeholders, describing him as someone who has made several contributions to the development of many communities in Abia,as well, invested on the welfare of the people.
The Labour Party Gubernatorial candidate for the 2023 election further pointed that Abians would be happy over the choice of Engr Ikechukwu, particularly the youths,since he is young and energetic.
In his acceptance speech,Engr Emetu Ikechukwu thanked Dr Otti for considering him fit for the job and promised to work as a team for the development of the state.

“I want to offer my gratitude to the Labour Party Governorship candidate for giving me the opportunity to serve in this capacity.
” I want to let you know that you have not only given me the privilege to serve ,but you have also given millions of Abia youths a sense of belonging by choosing their fellow youth as your running mate.
” Abia youths can once again believe that they are truly the leaders of tomorrow”.
Ikechukwu who is from Ohafia Local Government Area is aged 38.
Meanwhile,inaugurating the Alex Otti Campaign Council headed by Hon Nnanna Ngwo as the chairman, the Methodist Archbishop of Umuahia,Most Rev Chibuzo Raphael Opoko, offered prayers to God and charged the campaign council to ensure they deliver all the Labour party candidates from the position of the president and other candidates.
The newly inaugurated chairman of the Campaign Council, Hon Ngwo,said he would not disappoint the party and the responsibility entrusted upon him and his team.
“We will go and make sure we win .If every one of us wins in his polling unit,it means we have won the general election”
Similarly, the Campaign Council Field Coordinator, Hon Acho Obioma, thanked Dr Alex Otti for finding him worthy.He added that his job has been made easy with the sellable candidates fielded across various positions .”The party has a good product and i have no doubt that our principal is loved by our people.
” We have good products we are going to sell, our principal has chosen his campaign team to deliver all the candidates of the Labour party”
Hon Obioma, however,urged all the campaign Council to see themselve as one family, eschew any activity that would stand as barrier to the success of the party come 2023, while they pursue the common good of the party.
