Abians have been cautioned to be careful in their choice of Leaders, even as the state and nation approach the 2023 electioneering year.
The call which was made by the Methodist Archbishop of Umuahia and the Chairman of Social and International Affairs, Most Rev.Chibuzo Raphael Opoko, said the time is here again for Nigerians to enthrone new crop of leaders, calling on Nigerians, especially Abians to be careful of who they choose, as a wrong choice is capable of destructing the developmental processes.
In his Easter Message, the Methodist Cleric advised that as activities are building up ahead of the 2023 elections, the electorates must ensure credible candidates, people of proven characters, those that have zero tolerance for corruption,a genuine christian and a lover of God are chosen.
He added that candidates that are committed to the development of Abia and have the welfare of its citizens as a task that must be attended to, should emerge.
Most Rev.Chibuzo Opoko, while speaking on the Easter celebration, said that Easter is basically a season of faith, where Christians celebrate the death and resurrection of Christ. He said Easter is very significant to Christians because without the death of Christ, our faith is futile.
According to the Cleric, Easter is the hallmark of Christian faith.”Without Easter, there will be no Christianity or hope for christians, there will be no expectation of the coming of our Lord Jesus.Without Easter our faith is futile, our preaching is in vain.Christ was raised from the grave in power and glory, that is why Christians celebrate Easter.
“Without the resurrection of Christ our preaching and faith would have been in vain”,he added.
He stated that the resurrection of Christ gave hope to Christians and made christianity real.
“His death gave us the privilege to approach the throne of grace and as well, His death brought life to Christians.
“There is hope for eternity because Christ was raised from the dead.We must live well because we are sojourners here on earth.
He, however, advised Christians to take hold of the celebration and reflect on their Christian faith which was exemplified by the death and resurrection of Christ.
