Stakeholders from Isialangwa North and South Local Government Areas have resolved to cede the House of Representatives position to Isialangwa South,with a promise thatIsialangwa North shall occupy the House of Representatives post for commensurate years as their isialangwa south counterpart afterwards.
The House of Representatives seat which is currently being occupied by Hon Darlington Nwokocha from Isialangwa South, is brewing reactions as to who occupies it come 2023,since the two areas that make up the federal constituency take the seat in turns.
Already Isialangwa South is taking their second turn, while Isialangwa North is suppose to continue in 2023, but the PDP stakeholders in the area are saying that the House of Representatives position should be left for Isialangwa South to produce on the premise that the PDP governorship ticket is resting with Isialangwa North.
At the meeting which was organized at the Heaven is Real country home of Ochiagha Reagan Ufomba,Umuogele,Ntigha in Isialangwa North Local Government Area, the stakeholders said, Isialangwa North would be supported to consume the same number of years occupied at the House of Representatives by their Isialangwa south counterpart afterwards.
According to them, they have endorsed the candidacy of the PDP flag bearer for Isialangwa North/South Federal Constituency, Prof ACB Agbazuere, for the position,hence the need for all to support him.
In a communique endorsed by the Leaders after an interactive meeting, said, “That since Isialangwa North has the governorship ticket, the ticket for the House of Representatives should be exclusively left for Isialangwa South to give them a sense of belonging and equally garner their support which is what the PDP has already done at the primary election, by voting for Prof ACB Agbazuere, from Isialangwa South, as the PDP candidate for House of Representatives.
The communique also stated the group’s firm support for the Peoples Democratic Party and the government in Abia State,led by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, appreciating the ruling party in the state,for granting the governorship ticket to a son of Isialangwa North, in the person of Prof Ikonne.
The communique further stated the urgent need for the people of Isialangwa to set up “Isialangwa Development Committee”, for the development of Isialangwa,as well as, the need for all to work assiduously for the unity,peace and progress of the land.
“Isialangwa North/South Local Government Areas are blood relations.The two LGAs were formerly called Isialangwa South and they were created for administrative purposes”,it read.
