2023: Ikpeazu Vows To Address Lack Of FG Presence In Abia South

Abia State Governor and PDP Candidate for Abia South Senatorial District, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has vowed to take urgent steps in addressing the total lack of Federal Government presence in the Zone when elected in 2023.

Governor Ikpeazu who stated this during a special Town Union meeting of the Abiriba Communal Improvement Union, Aba, where the Abiriba Community residing in Aba endorsed the Governor and all PDP Candidates in the forthcoming general elections.

The Governor further assured that he would plunge Abia South District into the national mainframe adding that time has come for the zone to have a voice at the red chambers so as to change the narrative.

 

Ikpeazu, regretted the lack of federal government projects as well as the total abandonment of federal roads in the state which has led to serious economic consequences for the people.

The Governor noted that the situation made his adminstration to embark on the construction of alternative routes to neighboring states to enable Trade and Commerce, which are the main fulcrum of the state’s economy thrive.

He said: “Show me one Federal government presence in Aba or anywhere in Abia South apart from solar light which most of them are non functional.

 

“Today we are battling an issue where some trailer drivers have blocked the Aba -Portharcourt federal road in protest of its deplorable condition. 

 

“If we had a vibrant representative in Abuja that would rise to the occasion and speak for the people, the story will not be the same.

 

“We are not asking the federal government to come and give us palliatives, we are asking them to do our federal roads to enable ease of doing business for our traders.

 

“I think that time has come for us to take our destinies in our own hands. I have worn the shoes and know where it pinches most. I feel the pulse of the people of Abia South and would tackle their problems squarely at the red chambers”.

 

 

Describing the people of Abiriba as courageous, hardworking, committed and innovative, Governor Ikpeazu noted that over the years, they have partnered with the people of Aba in the developmental trajectory of Ngwaland and urged them to support all PDP candidates to victory in the coming elections.

He disclosed that the state government has awarded the contract for the construction of Ugwu Court road in Abiriba in addition to mobilizing the contractor handling the Ulasi road in Aba and assured that the remaining part of Abiriba ring road will be completed.

 

In their separate speeches the member representing Aba Central Chief Abraham Oba, his Ohafia North counterpart Chief Mandela Obasi and Chairman Governing Council Abia State University,Uturu, Chief Mba Ukariwo assured that they will mobilize Abiriba people for the actualization of the senatorial ambition of the Governor and urged the people of Abiriba to work towards the resounding victory of the PDP come 2023 which they said would advance their socio-economic and political fortunes.

Earlier in their speeches on behalf of the Abiriba Communal Improvement Union, the President, Abiriba Community Improvement Union, Chief Nduka Agwu,Abiriba Communal Improvement Union,Aba Branch, Women’s Wing, Mrs. Comfort Abosi said they are in support of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s Senatorial bid and that of all the PDP candidates in the 2023 elections.

They extended their gratitude to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for appointing their sons into positions of authority including Chief John Okiyi Kalu, Chief Mba Ukariwo, Prof. Mkpa Agu Mkpa among others and noted that it is time to reciprocate the love shown them.
