ENUGU–The Brethren of Interfaith And Inter-Community Development Initiative, aka, Brethren of the Rock, has reiterated its resolve to rally voters for the PDP Governorship candidate and his deputy in Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah and Mr. Ifeanyi Ossai, in the 2023 general election.
The group, comprising indigenes from TIV, Hausa, Yoruba, Igala communities and other four states of the South East geo-political zone, affirmed its support for Mbah and Ossai in the forthcoming election when it visited the Chairman of Nkanu East Council Area, Hon. Okechukwu Sydney Edeh on Saturday in Enugu.
The Director-General of the group, Barr. Onuora Okeke, informed Hon. Edeh, some of the activities the group had executed since its formation.
These included mobilisation of eligible voters to register for their PVCs, visits to several leaders of the group, erecting of bill boards in some locations in Enugu, press conference, solidarity visit to the government house, ongoing sensitization of members to the collection of PVCs.
Mr. Okeke, maintained that their choice to canvass votes for Mbah and Ossai was based on track records and demonstrations of competency, achievement and assessed commitments to human capital development of Mbah-Ossai.
The Director-General said that Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi through his deliberate policies had made Enugu a safe haven for all inhabitants both indigenes and non-indigenes alike.
Other speakers including, the Leader of Yoruba Community in Enugu State, Alhaji Abdulazeez Adebayo; Woman Leader, Chief Mrs. Chioma Chukwu; and the South-East Chairman, Youthwing of CAN, Pst. Oluchukwu Onuigwe commended the governor for promoting religious peace and harmony among indigenes and non-indigenes resident in Enugu State..
In his response, the Chairman of Nkanu East Council Area, Hon. Sydney Edeh, expressed gratitude to the group for the visit.
Hon. Edeh stated that he was delighted about the calibre of the membership and leadership of the group.
“I feel so gladden seeing people like this, people from different ethnic groups working together in support of Peter Mbah.
“I’m glad that it is during my time as the council Chairman of Nkanu East LGA that somebody from his area by God’s grace would be elected as governor of Enugu State.
“I’m touched by this visit, I thank you so much for joining me to do this work.” he said.
Hon. Edeh noted that the best thing Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi did for Enugu People was bringing Peter Mbah, adding that Mbah had developed himself in private sector and had the experience to lead the state.
The DG was accompanied on the visit by the Coordinator of Christian Community in Enugu State, Bishop Joseph Ajujungwa; Head of Missionary NASFAT, South-East, Mallam Yunusa Usman; Member Arewa Community, Enugu State,
Hon Bala Ardo; and Chairman, Enugu State Chapter of Youthwing of CAN, Ani Samuel Chekwube among other top officers of the group.
