2023: Abia PDP Chairman Appeals To Ndi Ohafia To Help Recover Abia North Senatorial Seat

 

Ahead of the 2023 General elections, the Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP),Abia State, Rt.Hon Alwell Asiforo Okere, has appealed to the people of Ohafia Local Government Area,to help recover the Abia North Senatorial seat, lost to the opposition in 2019.

The PDP chairrman who made the passionate appeal during a one day familiarization visit to Ohafia Local Government Area, said the vision of the party is to recover the lost Abia North senatorial seat come 2023, adding that the vision can only be achieved through the support of Ohafia Local Government Area.

According to him, Ohafia is a very important Local Government in Abia state, having three great cities, Ohafia,Abiriba and Nkporo, with dynamic and exceptional politicians,who through their leadership dexterity have repositioned and delivered Ohafia for PDP.

“Ohafia LGA is our base and strength.As a party, anything we are doing without Ohafia,we have not started”.

Addressing the mammoth crowd who stormed the Ohafia Council Headquarters to show solidarity to the PDP, Rt.Hon Alwell Asiforo Okere,charged the large number of supporters not to relent in their support for the party, but transform their youthful energy in voting for the PDP in the next general elections.

The party chairman further expressed joy that the people of Ohafia are abreast with political happenings in the state, which he said, “Brews confidence that the PDP is on ground in the area.

“We came for a sensitization visit to your area ahead of the 2023 elections, but what we are seeing here today, shows that you are ahead of us and fully prepared for the battle ahead.

“Go ahead and continue to preach the gospel of PDP to every nook and cranny of Ohafia,while we ensure the party in the area,remains intact, working together to recover the lost senatorial seat”,he said.

Contributing, the State PDP Secretary, Barr David Iro, disclosed that the party in Ohafia is fully intact and is not crisis-ridden, assuring that come 2023,there would be no resenting voice in the area.

In an interview with newsmen, the Ohafia Council Chairman, Dr Okoroafor Ukiwe, assured that come 2023 the PDP would regain its lost senatorial seat.

According to him,the opposition did not win in 2019 because of their popularity, but stated that they only took advantage of the internal crisis in PDP.

The LGA Chairman further maintained that the PDP would regain its pride of place, adding that it would be a very cheap battle.

He also used the visit of the party executive to his Local government to reel out his achievements since he came on board,stating that he had embarked on the reconstruction of the Orieakwa market, Abiriba, the reconstruction of Abiriba motor park, maintain peace and security through partnership with security agencies, grading of rural roads, erosion control projects,organised Ohafia Youth Summit and Skill Acquisition, among others.

The Member representing Ohafia North State Constituency at the Abia House of Assembly, Hon Mandela Obasi, said the visit of the party to the Local Government Area was apt, adding that they would consolidate on the visit to preach the PDP gospel,as well as foster peace among the different wards in Ohafia LGA.

Hon Obasi, however, disclosed that Ohafia LGA has all it takes to recover the Abia North Senatorial seat to PDP, bearing in mind that the area always produce the highest votes in Abia North, every electioneering period.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Trade and Investment and the Nwandugbom 1 of Abiriba,Chief John Okiyi Kalu, welcomed the PDP entourage to Ohafia LGA, promising that Ohafia would continue to be a PDP area.

The event which had in attendance political bigwigs in Ohafia LGA, including the Deputy Governor of Abia State,Rt.Hon Ude Oko Chukwu, Commissioners, House of Assembly members,Local Govt Chairmen both past and present, Ohafia PDP executive,among others, observed a minute silence in memory of the late Chief Ukpai Agu Ukpai.
