The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in Abia State, has debunked the rumour peddling around in the state, that the party has chosen its governorship candidate.
The party condemned the rumour in entirety, stating that “it has not chosen anybody as the governorship candidate for the 2023 gubernatorial election.
In a Press Briefing at the Party Secretariat, Umuahia, the State Secretary of the party, Barr David Iro, said the PDP as a party has not chosen any candidate, describing the information as false and a mere speculation from the public.
Iro emphatically stated that the flag bearer of the party would only emerge after the primaries, urging Abians to debunk the rumour.
The scribe of the party further assured all aspirants that the party would conduct a free,fair and credible elections, as well as offer a level playing ground for all contestants.
He encouraged Abians to respect and concentrate on the zoning formula of Abia central and Abia North senatorial zones.
“We did not say Abia South is not qualified to exercise their civil right, they are qualified, but as a party, we are looking at a situation where we will not concentrate power at a particular zone,such that Abia south that is currently occupying the governorship office will not continue in doing so.Based on this,we zoned it to Abia North and Central zones.
“Certainly, we have not chosen any candidate.Our candidate will emerge at our primaries and we assure that it will be free, fair and credible”,he added.
