It was a beehive of activities today at the Abia Hotels,Umuahia, as the All Progressive Congress (APC),in Abia State, witnessed the declaration of their 8th governorship Aspirant, Chief Daniel Eke.
The event which was well attended,had supporters trooping out to show solidarity and backing the vision of Chief Daniel Eke,who said he is coming to reclaim, restore and modernize Abia.
In his speech, the Governorship Aspirant whose coinage is, ‘CDE 2023- The Time To Build The Abia Of Our Dreams’, gave the assurance that he is coming to deliver the dividend of democracy to the people,as well as, help to reposition the state.
Outlining some of the strategies put forward to achieve success if elected as the governor of Abia, Chief Eke said his vision for the state cuts across Education, Economy,Health, Security, Environment,Sports, Grassroot Empowerment and Energy, saying he would not leave any stone unturned.
According to Chief Eke, his administration would look into massive road infrastructure,with the life span of every road constructed hitting 30-40 years duration,thereby, arresting the incessant road failures in the state.
He said the health sector would be a major priority in his administration, promising to make resources available to equip existing health facilities.
On the area of environment, the 2023 Governorship hopeful dropped the need for waste to be commercialized, stating that he would enter into Public Private Partnership with recycling companies, converting all waste in the state to cash.
He also said he would make positive impact on youth development,as well as,reform the local government system for better efficiency.
“As a charterd Accountant, we will use the realities on ground to surmount the challenges confronting the state. On the issue of backlog of salary arrears and pensions, i will approach this issue gradually, because of the limited resources of the state.The arrears will be paid gradually.
“I consider myself as the best person for the governorship position, because i think outside the box and i have solution to Abia’s problems.
In his speech, the APC chairman in Abia,Hon Acho Obioma, assured every aspirant of equal opportunity to test their popularity,while urging party faithful to disregard the rumour peddling that the party is divided.
In his words,” Our party is intact.This is Abia APC.The bad days are gone,we will reclaim our party.
“This is where election is taking place.We have technocrats here.We have our members.The other people are running around for membership register.They dont have members.
“If you are thinking Ikechi Emenike will give you ticket,fa fa fa foul.We are the leadership of the APC in Abia.
The party chairman further urged Aspirants to go and canvass for vote ahead of the party’s primary elections.
