The Obingwa West State Constituency will be having a fresh breath at the resumption of the 8th Abia Assembly come 2023, with the emergence of Elder Erondu Uchenna Erondu,as the PDP flagbearer.
Elder Erondu who is a consummate philanthropist, has carried out several philanthropic gestures within and outside his locality and will be coming into the Abia House of Assembly for the first time to represent his constituency.
Declaring the result of the election held at the Community Primary School, Mgboko Umuorio in Mgboko Umuanunu ward 3, by the Returning Officer, Prince Dan Okoli, Elder Erondu polled a total of 18 votes out of the 18 votes cast,while other aspirants did not appear at the venue of the election.
In an interview with the press shortly after being declared the winner of the Primary election for Obingwa West State Constituency, the SSA to the Governor on Special Duties, Chief Erondu Uchenna Erondu, said he would continue with his philanthropic gestures, since the reward for hardwork is more work.
According to him his emergence at the polls got him shedding tears with the landslide victory recorded, which he said, further proved that he is unanimously accepted by the people, imploring the other aspirants to join him in the task of repositioning the Obingwa West State Constituency,as their ideas are welcome.
Erondu,also requested prayers from the constituents so that he can continue to deliver more dividend to the people.
The Electoral officer, Prince Dan Okoli,while fielding questions from journalists praised the peaceful conduct of the delegates, which he said attributed to the successful primary.
Reacting to the disappearance of other Aspirants from the contest, Okoli noted that the aspirants might have ignored the contest when they found out that Elder Erondu was widely accepted by the people.
Also, the PDP Chairman of Obingwa Local Government Area, Hon Seth Agomuo, thanked God for the peaceful election and congratulated Elder Erondu for the landslide victory.
He urged the PDP candidate for the Uhie Constituency to carry other aspirants along, as there is “No Victor, No Vanquished”, adding that if there are aggrieved members, the party would make efforts to reconcile them.
Elder Azubuike Erondu,Nwosa Ikokwu Sunday and Hon Ezekiel Onyeacholam,pledged their support to Elder Erondu,who they described as the best candidate for the constituency, having touched the lives of the youths,women and men of the constituency.
According to them,Elder Erondu has been engaging in philanthropic gestures as far back as 2007 and has built over 40 houses for widows, giving out 30 vehicles and 60 motorbikes as empowerment.
They said no doubt if he is elected as the Honourable member of the Obingwa West State Constituency (Uhie), he would attract more dividend to the people.
