2020: I will focus on industrialization, agriculture,strategic infrastructural development -Gov Ikpeazu

Abia State Governor,Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu says his admisrration in the next four years when re-elected will focus on industrialization, agriculture,strategic infrastructural development as well as build an Agro industrial city in Ubani Ibeku and Umuahia.

The Governor said his administration in the coming years will among other things catalyze development in Abia North to attract investors in the state, establish the Trans Abia Highway which will cut across Nsulu, Ikwuano and Arochukwu LGAs as well as continue with strategic road construction across the state adding that security will be on the front burner.

Ikpeazu who stated this while presenting his manifesto to the Aba Chamber of Commerce, Industry Mines and Agriculture (ACCIMA) at the Aba Sports Club,said his government has changed the narrative in terms of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises(SMEs) with Aba as the capital of SMEs in Nigeria in addition to capacity building and marketing of made in Aba products among others.

He noted that the intervention of his government in road infrastructures across the state as well as the dualization of Faulks road is to create access to the Ariaria Market which will in turn promote commerce and industry adding that his administration completed 65 road projects across the state and attracted 54 million dollar erosion control project.

Governor Ikpeazu said the way to go is to encourage private sector driven economy which is the focus of his administration.

The Governor who used the opportunity to reel out his administration’s achievements said he is the most qualified for the highest office in the state, insisting that his administration deserves a second term in office.

ACCIMA President, Andy Uba Obasi in his address commended Governor Ikpeazu for the various transformational developments witnessed in his administration especially in the areas of infrastructures, security, SME development and economic plan for the future of the state.

He however pleaded with the governor to address the issues facing the business community and recommended the concession of moribund state government assets as well as more funding for the MSME for business development and expansion.

The head of Aba Business Community, Ideh John Udeagbala, in his remarks stressed the need for the establishment of a vocational school to power the state government’s industrial revolution urging the governor to tackle the issue of multiple taxation.
