The Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia by a lone goal to win the Bronze medal of the 32nd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Odion Ighalo scored his fifth goal of the tournament when he stabbed the ball into the net after the Tunisian goalkeeper, Ben Cheriffa and his defender, Meriah fumbled with the ball crossed by Jamilu Collins.
Despite the pressure from the Tunisians, the Super Eagles managed to hold their own and ensured that the match ended by a lone goal.
Francis Uzoho, who replaced Daniel Akpeyi in goal showed composure. Victor Osimhen replaced the goal scorer, Odion Ighalo, after he was injured while Woses Simon and Samuel Kalu also had a slice of action in the secon half.
This the eighth time Nigeria is playing in the third-place match of the AFCON and this is the eighth time they have won the Bronze.
this the second time Nigeria is meeting the North Africans in a third-place match. The first time they met was in 1978 in Ghana. When the match was tied 1-1, the Tunisians abandoned the match after 42 minutes in protest over officiating. Nigeria was awarded a 2-0 walkover.
