2019: Abia PDP flags off campaigns

It was a gathering of mammoth crowd of party  faithful of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) at the International Conference Center Umuahia venue of the flag presentation to PDP candidates in Abia State who would represent the party in the 2019 general election.

As early as 9am, the ICC venue was already filled with people from all works of life who came to be part of the epoch making event.

The event was not devoid of the usual activities of a gathering of such nature with various groups with posters of their preferred candidate kept the arena alive with songs and eulogies of their candidates.

The occasion also marks the officiall flag off of campaigns by the candidates of the party.

Speaking at the event, the State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu
said his achievements in areas such as infrastructure, road construction, establishment of Enyimba Economic City,development of Small and Medium Enterprises among others stand as testimony to his PDP administration adding that the PDP in Abia has continued to carry everyone along despite party affiliations.

Ikpeazu while calling on all candidates to ensure that they deliver at their various wards and constituents said the party needs their support to consolidate it’s hold on power.

He cautioned opposition parties to talk less and show what they have been able to achieve in the state.

Chairman of the State PDP, Chief Johnson Onuigbo in his speech said the official hand over of the party’s flag marks the flag off of campaigns of her party members at all levels.

He said it also empowers candidates to go to their constituencies down to the grassroots which he described as the base of their campaigns pointing out that every part of the state must be reached.

Onuigbo advised the party’s candidates to ensure that their campaign is issue based.

Deputy Speaker, state House of Assembly,Chief Cosmas Ndukwe while responding on behalf of the candidates promised to ensure that they deliver on their mandates.
