Orji Kalu’s victory, is a victory for Ndigbo- Chukwu

The Lawmaker representing Bende North State Constituency in the Abia state House of Assembly, Hon Chijioke Chukwu, has described the Supreme Court  ruling in favour of the Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu, where his conviction was nullified, as a victory for the Igbo nation.

Chukwu who disclosed this to our reporter in a telephone interview, said today’s victory was not for the All Progressives Congress  or Abia North Senatorial district alone, but the entirety of the South East, as the ruling has proven that the judiciary remains the last hope for the common man,as  well as restored the confidence of an average Nigerian, on the  fairness and supremacy of the constitution, bearing in mind that the wrongful conviction of an innocent man, will amount to a high level of injustice.

According to him, the incarceration was a targeted attempt to silent the active voice in the Eastern region, ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The Minority Leader alleged that almost all the ethnic groups in Nigeria supported the incarceration of OUK, since he was seen as  a major voice in the South East, so that come 2023, the Igbo presidency bid would be forgotten.

Chukwu expressed happiness, their plot did not materialize, arguing that as a former governor of Abia, Chief Kalu shouldn’t have been put under such a dehumanizing condition, adding that there is nothing OUK has done, that other governors have not done.

For him, the whole conspiracy was to nail Orji Uzor Kalu and silent the active voice of the Igbo race before 2023.

The Lawmaker revealed that the APC in Abia really felt the absence of the Senator, being the Leader of the party in the state. He  added  that while OUK was away, the members of the party, tried in keeping the party together.

Hon Chukwu, however, called on ndigbo to  throw their weight behind the former governor, so that come 2023, the voice of the region would be heard.
