Nigerian brothers were at war when Nottingham Forest welcome Southampton to the City Ground. Ola Aina played all 90 minutes while Taiwo Awoniyi came on in the 83rd minute as Nottingham Forest defeated bottom-placed Southampton 3-2 despite Paul Onuachu’s goal for the visitors.

The hosts were 3-0 up with less than five minutes to the end of the first half only to let in two second half goals to give the Saints a hope of a remarkable comeback.

Elliot Anderson had given the home side the lead in the 11th minute. Callum Hudson-Odoi doubled their lead in the 28th minute before Chris Wood headed in his 14th goal of the season and Forest’s third.

After the break Southampton started what looked like a come-back when Jan Bednarek pulled one back on the hour mark. In the first minute of the 12 added minutes, Nigerian international, Paul Onuachu scored the second goal for the Saints.

The last 11 minutes left fans of both sides sitting on the edge of their seats and biting their nails. The visitors almost snatched the equalizer when Benarek’s header was heading into the net before Ola Aina cleared the ball off the line. Forests held on to extend their unbeaten run to eight matches, which has produced seven wins and a draw. They are equal on points with Arsenal with 44 points but have an inferior goal difference.

Southampton are yet to pick a point since signing Ivan Juric as their manager in December.

The post WAR OF BROTHERS: Aina, Awoniyi Laugh Last Despite Onuachu’s Goal first appeared on National Ambassador News.

Nottingham Forest grabbed their first win of this season’s English Premier League with a lone goal victory over West Ham United.

Taiwo Awoniyi scored the only goal of the thrilling encounter when Jesse Linguard’s effort was deflected into his path off West Ham defender, Ben Johnson.

Awoniyi became the first player to score for Nottingham Forest in the Premier League since Chris Bart-Williams scored against Leicester City in May 1999.

West Ham’s best chance of equalizing came in the second half when they were awarded a penalty, but Dean Henderson saved Declan Rice’ spot kick.

This victory pushed Nottingham Forest to 10th on the league table while West Ham United are 19th with no point so far.
