In addition, a grader and a payloader were provided to facilitate the grading of feeder roads, a move targeted at improving rural access and boosting agricultural productivity within the constituency.

Addressing the beneficiaries, Hon Osonwa stressed the importance of impactful empowerment initiatives in enhancing the economic wellbeing of the people. He noted that although his core focus has largely been on education and healthcare, the current intervention became necessary to assist families facing economic challenges.

According to him, good leadership requires responsiveness to the needs of the people, especially in difficult times. He appreciated stakeholders for ensuring that the items were allocated to those most in need and urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the materials.

The lawmaker also expressed satisfaction in representing his constituents at a time when Dr Alex Otti is leading Abia State, noting that his efforts align with the Governor’s vision of delivering good governance.

Hon Osonwa further explained that the initiative forms part of his broader commitment to people-oriented representation, designed to place practical economic tools directly in the hands of constituents, which he said could stimulate grassroots economic growth, improve household income, and create sustainable opportunities.

He reaffirmed his dedication to policies and programmes that directly impact the welfare of his constituents while complementing ongoing development efforts across the state.

In his remarks, the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Ikechukwu Emetu, commended Hon Osonwa for what he described as purposeful and people-centered leadership. He noted that providing individuals with the right tools empowers them to uplift themselves and their families.

He encouraged beneficiaries to see the empowerment as a seed for growth, emphasizing that such initiatives yield meaningful results when combined with hard work.

The empowerment programme further showcased series of projects executed by the lawmaker across the constituency. In the education sector, he has constructed and furnished classroom blocks at Abam High School and Ukwa Nkporo Primary School, reconstructed Abia Community School, and facilitated the renovation of Okon Comprehensive School in Ohafia.

In infrastructure, Hon Osonwa facilitated the emergency maintenance and reconstruction of the Omenuko Bridge in Arochukwu, as well as the ongoing rehabilitation of key roads including the Mgbaga Federal High Court Road in Ohafia, Ibina Ihenta Road, and sections of the Umuahia–Arochukwu–Ohafia Road.

The traditional ruler of Ekeoba Ancient kingdom, Ohuhu, Umuahia, Abia state, HRM Eze Iheanyichukwu Nwokenna, has thanked Governor Alex Otti for the reconstruction of 70 years dilapidated Omenuko bridge.

According to the Monarch the bridge had killed 17 students who went for exam, including Evangelist Uma Ukpai’s two children, a husband, wife including their driver among others.

The royal father noted that governance is all about providing dividend of democracy to the people, stating that good governance has eluded the people for years. He regretted that the Omenuko bridge, a short bridge leading from Abam to Arochukwu Local Government Council, would be allowed to decay for years and nothing was done despite lives lost including the life of Mr Maxwell Udoma, his wife, Victory and their driver.

He hinted that, almost 50 years ago when he went to Arochukwu to marry his wife, the bridge was in a bad condition until the Governor swung into action and delivered the road.

In addition, the Oba said they were so scared going through the bridge in those days, stressing that successive governments came and equally abandoned the bridge until the emergence of the present administration.

He noted that anyone who witnessed the massive crowd that turned out to welcome the Governor during the recent bridge commissioning would understand the level of public support.

Eze Nwokonna highlighted several key road projects across the state, including the Umuahia–Uzuakoli Road, the Abam–Arochukwu Road, and major roads in Aba such as Port Harcourt Road, stating that they have been rehabilitated by reputable Grade A contractors.

He lamented that Abians and even non-indigenes previously endured severe hardship due to impassable roads, recalling that travelers heading to Arochukwu once had to pass through Akwa Ibom State, making the journey unnecessarily long and stressful. According to him, the narrative has since changed, as potholes have virtually disappeared from many streets across Abia.

Eze Nwokonna added that the best way for residents to appreciate the Governor’s efforts is to support him in the 2027 election to enable him complete ongoing projects.

Also speaking, Human Rights Activist and Public Affairs Analyst, Comrade Paul Njoku, said the Governor’s achievements become more evident when ordinary citizens share their experiences. He recounted how a mechanic recently told him he had resorted to riding a tricycle because fewer vehicles now require repairs due to improved road conditions across the state.

Although the mechanic admitted that the development had affected his income, Njoku said he acknowledged that it ultimately benefits the larger population.

Njoku, who described himself as a critic that evaluates before criticizing, said having grown up in Abia, he understands the difference between the state’s past and present conditions and described the Governor’s road projects as landmark interventions capable of lasting for many years.

The Imo-born analyst maintained that a walk through the streets of Abia would reveal widespread satisfaction among residents regarding the governor’s performance.

The post Abia Monarch Commends Gov Otti Over Life Changing Projects first appeared on National Ambassador News.

Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has assured that the state government would construct the road leading into the Geometric Power Project at the Osisioma Industrial Layout.

Governor Ikpeazu who gave the assurance, Wednesday during an inspection of the facilities at the Geometric Power Plant described the project as the fulcrum upon which the industial development of Aba, Abia and the South East will revolve.

He added that the Geometric Power Project would turn around the economic fortunes of the people.

Ikpeazu said: “two years from today, the story of economic development in Aba and Abia State will take a completely different turn. Things will never be the same again around here and anyone who hasn’t concluded plans to have presence here is already late”.

Earlier, while conducting the Governor on a tour of the plant, the Chairman/CEO of Geometric Power Ltd, Professor Barth Nnaji thanked Governor Ikpeazu for his consistent support which led to the revival of the project adding that the project would not have seen the light of day without the support of the Governor.

Professor Nnaji, who reaffirmed that Abia State Government owns 5% equity in the Project.

According to Prof Nnaji, power plant has the capacity to produce 140 megawatts of electricity which is more than enough to provide steady and sustainable power to Aba and its environs as against the 50megawatts which the city currently generates from the national grid.

He said that required support infrastructure was in place, including the 17km pipeline that takes gas from Owaza in Ukwa West LGA to the plant ans assured that the plant would be commissioned for supply of power to the people of Abia State in six months.

Professor Nnaji stated that long before the contractual problem that led to the stalling of the project, the sum of 500 Million Dollars had already been invested in the project, adding that Geometrics is the largest economic project in the entire South East of Nigeria.

The people of Ihie Autonomous Community in Isiala Ngwa North LGA of Abia state have appealed to the state government to urgently intervene and save them from imminent disaster occasioned by deplorable state of roads and gully erosion threat in the area.

The people stated this when a delegation from the Community led by the Traditional Ruler, Eze John Ogbuanu paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Staff to the State Governor, Dr. Anthony Agbazuere at Government House Umuahia.

In an address read on behalf of the people by the President, Ihie Youth Council, Comrade Obinna Nwaimo, the people lamented that they have suffered untold hardship with economic and social activities grounded to a stand still as a result of erosion menace and deplorable state of roads in the community.

“Ihie has suffered untold hardship, neglect, marginalized and infrastructurally disadvantaged road wise since the return of democracy. Our people are peasant farmers with eighty percent of our economic activities done at the river bank.

“The six entry routes to Ihie community are cut off by gully erosion as well as all major roads to the river bank are all impassable with many already cut off also with deadly gully erosion.

“To say that our people navigate through death traps accessing family compounds and farms is not only an understatement but to say the least. Both economic and social activities in Ihie have been grounded to a halt due to erosion which washes off the high water run-off sandy roads.

“We are appealing to you for urgent intervention for rehabilitation and provision of storm drains, we are ready and willing to partner with government on how to find a lasting solution to our deplorable state of roads in the community.

While congratulating Dr. Agbazuere on his appointment, the people thanked Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for appointing one of their sons, Tony Otuonye as the General Manager, Abia State Signage and Advertisement Agency (ABSAA).

Also speaking, the former Commissioner for Information,an indigene of the community, Comrade Bonnie Iwuoha thanked the Chief of Staff for granting the group audience and expressed the continuous support of the people to the present administration.

In his response, the Chief of Staff to the Governor,Dr Anthony Agbazuere assured them that the Okezie Ikpeazu led adminstration would do everything within its powers to address the condition of roads in Ihie community.

Agbazuere while attributing the state of roads in the area to its topography said,” we will send people from the ministry of works the go and investigate so that we will know the what extent we can help”.

He said the state government has not forgotten the Ihie community in the scheme of things and sited the renovation of schools as well as the appointment of indigenes of the community into positions of trust as part of the numerous things the present administration has done for the people and called on them to sustain their support for Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

The post Abia Community Decry Deplorable Roads, Calls For Govt Intervention. first appeared on National Ambassador News.

“I must not fail to appreciate what the Government is doing at Faulks road. You know am from that area and we have been yearning for this kind of attention. Please, help me extend our appreciation to Dr.Okezie Ikpeazu, Our people are happy especially for the quality of road projects we are seeing in Aba and environs”.

…But you always say the exact opposite on your blogs and timelines. Why have you not find time to talk about these things. I know you have good number of followers… I innocently asked .

” Iyke, you won’t understand, once I openly appreciate OVI, some persons will personally report me. I do not want to be quoted. That’s why I decided to open up to you”

I had the conversation with a member of the APGA in Abia State.

We are not just lucky with the caliber of people that parade themselves as opposition in Abia State. To them, opposition is all about power struggle not a push for good governance.

“Anybody who is criticizing Ikpeazu on road infrastructure and the quality of work he is doing, needs his/her brain to be thoroughly examined” A strong member of APC Dr. Chidia Maduekwe who is a DG of a federal Agency, spoke to me on phone. He went on, I am in Aba, I asked my driver and my escort to park while I join Kekenapep to tour the town, I am so impressed. I read your posts everyday, I decided to come down and see for myself. Really, I am impressed.”

Seems there is a big disagreement between Federal Opposition and State Opposition. While the Presidency sees Abia and the Government of Abia as major partners in the Project Nigeria, some persons who are determined to de-market the State see nothing good in a State that is evolving through a radical development since its creation in 1991.

Until we find a common ground to agree, opposition in Abia is acidic, petty, insensitive and childish.

Sensing the high level of encomium poured on the State Government after the State wide projects inspection, the only option was to sponsor articles aimed at discrediting the State.

The truth is that, Abians who are the real voters are aware of what the State is doing on Road, Agriculture, Education and other important sectors of the economy. The State through road networks is connecting people to major economic activities, markets, to our neighboring States while also opening up communities through major road networks.

Outside sponsoring articles and television adverts against PDP in Abia State, one wonders what Opposition will campaign with in Umuagu, where the Government has saved buildings from collapse due to erosion.

What will opposition say to those living at Faulks road and those who trade at Ariaria?

What can convince Abiriba and Nkporo indigenes against voting for a government that joined both communities with a 7km road. What message will opposition take to Abam, Ovom, Ugwunagbo, Isiukwuato, Obingwa and hundred other places that have benefited immensely from Ikpeazu’s touch?

It is a general belief that no one or government can solve every problem at same time, it is therefore important to appreciate any government that has not only solved many problems but is continuously maintaining the tempo at which the various problems are being solved.

Perhaps, this account for one of the reasons I do no get worked up when people say ” The Governor is doing nothing”. Check very well, even if you tar a road to the person’s bedroom, he will not agree Dr.Ikpeazu has done anything. Just know that someone is playing the drum they are dancing to.

Abians know the road conditions of Ehere, Ukaegbu, Umuola, Owerri road, Aba road, Aba Owerri road, Echefu, Onyebuchi, Abam-Arochukwu, Aharandu, Emejiaka, Ibere road and many others before Ikpeazu came onboard, no sponsored article will take them back to that previous condition. No paid advert can convince residents to believe you more than the Government that brought joy to their faces. Elections in Abia are won in Abia not on thisday sponsored negative article. The more the negative article, the more people see you are an enemy of the State.

What of those Shoemakers and Garment makers that have seen an upsurge in sales and promotion. Those communities where over 300 schools are being renovated and new ones elevated?

I do not think a sponsored article against Ikpeazu can deter those youths that will soon enjoy the ambience of the new Enyimba Stadium. No speech can convince those who through State’s effort have benefited from one government programme or the other.

Ikpeazu’s work is speaking for him. His work can not be suppressed by thousands of emergency liars.

Anybody that has not seen what the Government of Abia is doing, has never been interested in anything Abia. They are those that open a radio, hear Abia and close the channel..Whoever that is interested in our progress, know what Abia has done and what we are doing. They are pained that they do not have a campaign topic.
