Gov Fubara, Other Governors, attends PDP Governors’ meeting in Jalingo

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Governors’ Forum has said that it will engage the National Working Committee of the party to revisit the issue of Congresses in Rivers State with a view to correcting the anomaly and allow Governor Siminalayi Fubara take his rightful leadership of the party in the State

In an 8-point Communique read by the Forum’s Chairman and Governor of Bauchi State, Sen. Bala Mohammed, after a meeting held in Jalingo, the Taraba State Capital on Friday, it noted the obvious interference of the Judiciary in the political impasse in Rivers State as court judgments are employed to determine the outcome of the party Congresses.

The meeting which was attended by Governor Siminalayi Fubara along with other PDP Governors’ also tabled other national issues which includes commending the dexterity of the PDP Governors’ in handling the recent #EndBadGovernance protest in their respective States with maturity thereby restraining hoodlums from hijacking it.

“The Forum reiterates that peaceful protests are the inalienable rights of the citizens through which they vent their genuine grievances. The Forum commiserates with the families of those innocent souls that were lost and calls on the Federal Government to ensure fair and speedy trial of those who were arrested.”

The PDP Governors also lamented that rather than undertaking a review of macro-economic and social policies with a view to giving them a human face, the Federal Government has resorted to blackmail and called on the President to show statesmanship

“We call on Mr. President to show statesmanship by restraining his officials from blame games, that make the sub-nationals look bad by mentioning piecemeal interventions that cannot solve the problem. We remain unshaken in our firm resolve to stand with the suffering Nigerian masses and to take all legitimate steps to ameliorate their plight.”

“With regards to the forthcoming governorship election in Edo State, we condemn the pronouncements by the President to compromise the election in favour of his Party as well as the systematic intimidation of PDP supporters by the Nigeria Police and call on the Inspector General of Police to call his men to order.”

“The Forum notes with concern, the refusal of the Federal Government to distinguish between the Federal Government of Nigeria, FGN revenue and revenue accruing to the Federation which must be allocated in accordance with extant laws.

The Forum therefore called on the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Accountant General of the Federation to be more transparent in obeying the law, particularly section 162 (1) (2) (3), and also called on the Accountant General of the Federation to stop behaving like the Accountant General of the Federal Government and to exercise her role in line with the constitution.

“Therefore, we call for the separation of the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation and that of the Accountant General of the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The post Rivers Congress: PDP Governors’ Forum Vows To Engage NWC first appeared on National Ambassador News.

The Governor emphasized the importance of reconciliation, noting that despite initial tensions, significant progress had been made.

“We discussed the affairs of the party and I am sure you are aware that primaries held last week in Edo, as both the candidate and the aspirants are here.

“We sat down together and took a report of what happened and looked at all the issues so that we could have some reconciliation ready for the election that would happen later in the year.

“Reconciliation is very vital; people sometimes after an election get offended but I can assure you that there is a lot of progress.

“Labour Party is a strong political party in Edo state and they will do well,” Otti said.

“Today under the leadership of the governor of Abia State, we are able to bring most of the aspirants together with the candidate in order to have a formidable force that will go into the campaign.

“I am sure all the gray areas that the aspirants were having have been sorted out today and I am sure that we are coming out more united and stronger. We’ll be able to face the challenges in Edo.

National publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has denied leaving the ruling party.

There were reports shortly after Senate President Bukola Saraki and Abdulfatah Ahmed, governor of Kwara state, pulled out of the ruling party, that he had moved to the PDP.

Abdullahi an ally of Saraki’s absence during the regular Monday meeting of the APC national working committee (NWC) also fueled speculations that he had dumped the ruling party.

But he told reporters at the APC headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday that he notified the party’s national leadership that he would be absent at the meeting.

“It is not true that I have resigned and let me emphasis that there is no iota of truth in that report. I can understand where the speculation is coming from, perhaps because I was absent during the NWC meeting on Monday,” Abdullahi said.

“However, the speculators didn’t know that I told my colleagues that I was away in Kwara State.

“I want to put it on record that I came through the front door and if I want to leave, I will leave through the front door.”
