The Senator representing Abia South Senatorial District in Senate and governorship hopeful under the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, has been called on to jettison his ambition and support the people of Isiala Ngwa and Umunneato to actualise their bid to occupy the number one seat come 2023.

This call was made by a group of concerned Isiala Ngwa sons and daughters under the aegis Isiala Ngwa Progressive Front.

Arising from a meeting held at the residence of its President Comrade Ugochukwu Njoku, the group appealed with the Senate Minority leader to please join his brothers in Isiala Ngwa North to realize their age-long desire of becoming the Governor of Abia State.

They recall that Ndi Isiala Ngwa have always being at the forefront in supporting senator Abaribe’s ambition.

They cited that when Senator Abaribe was facing persecution from the former governor of Abia State Senator Uzor Kalu ,that Isiala Ngwa people stood by him leading to the then speaker Rt. Hon. Christopher Enwerenmadu, loosing his seat as the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, even
as it led to the death of some of their brothers, while a lot others were maimed.

Speaking further, the group recall that they repeated same feat in 2003 elections with the mantra of “Otu Onu”, which they said made some notable Ngwa sons and daughters to lose their positions in the then government.

The group said that Senator Abaribe as a stakeholder in Abia politics is expected to be at the forefront of supporting their ambition and desire of becoming the governor in 2023.

The group said that history and posterity will judge him fairly for making such sacrifice and reciprocating what they have done for him in the past and even in the present as the people of Isiala Ngwa have resoundingly supported Governor Ikpeazu , his Obingwa brother, for the past seven years of his leadership.

They urged him, therefore , to consider all the sacrifices made by the people of Isiala Ngwa and thus exhibit spirit of sportsmanship by supporting the interest of the people of Isiala Ngwa, under the old Aba zone mandate , by leading from the front.

They however, urged Senator Abaribe to ignore those spurring him to continue in his ambition of becoming Abia Governor at this time his brothers who have always stood by him are desirous of clinching same seat as such people do not mean well for the Ngwa Nation.

The post Group Urge Senator Enyi Abaribe To Support Isiala Ngwa Ambition To Become Abia Governor first appeared on National Ambassador News.

In continuation of his Kinetic Abia Project,Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has Commissioned the newly constructed 1st Phase of the Amaorji Junction- Abayi Isi Court Road in Isiala Ngwa North LGA as well as flagged off the construction of the 2nd phase of the road project.

Speaking at the event,Governor Ikpeazu expressed happiness that the first phase of the project has become a reality and assured that the second phase of the project would be completed in record time.

He urged the people to disregard the insinuation from the opposition who claim that the road would be abandoned, saying that his adminstration will not relent in its resolve to deliver democracy dividends to the people.

He thanked the people of Isiala Ngwa North LGA for solidly supporting his administration adding that he is encouraged to do more by the outpouring of love from the people.

The Governor urged the people to nurture and care for the road adding that it would be a great disservice to members of the community and those who will use the road if they decide to burn tires or erect illegal barricades on the road.

On the request of the people that the proposed Ntigha Dry Port comes to fruition, Governor Ikpeazu said; “I have listened carefully and I’ve heard your desire and aspiration to put into fruition and reality our proposed Dry Port. I want to say to you that we prefer the Dry Port project to other projects because we know that it will touch the lives of 95% of our people.

“The Dry Port project falls squarely at the centre of our efforts to create a better life for our people through enhancement of Trade and Commerce and promotion of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises.

“I know that over 70 percent of the goods that come to Apapa Wharf belong to our brothers and sisters who are doing business and trading in Aba, therefore there could be no better gift than to present to them before the completion of this tenure a Dry Port of final destination from where they can clear their goods and export the shoes and the garments we are already making in Aba.

“I therefore say to you that i am perhaps more desperate that the good people of Isiala Ngwa North to bring that project to fruition. That project will not only serve the people within this economic eco system, it will serve Ndi Igbo, Nigerians at large and will be the first project of this kind in the entire Eastern geo political zone.

“I will therefore deploy every resource that is within me to ensure that we deliver that project to the glory of God”.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Works, Elder Bob Ogu disclosed that the Governor has developed a template with which roads are flagged off and commissioned, disclosing that a new date for the commissioning of the Osisioma flyover will be made known soon.

He said the roads built in the State has at least 20 years guarantee and asked the benefiting communities to protect the road and ensure that no bonfire is set on the road.

Earlier in an address the Executive Chairman, Isialangwa North, Mr. Chinwendu Ochiulo thanked the Governor for his Infrastructural Projects across the area, especially opening up of rural roads and appealed to him to fix the Okpuala Ngwá Mbawsi road as well as expedite action on the commencement of the Ntigha Dry Port Project.

In her speech, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs Mrs. Joy Nwanju informed that the road project is an intervention project initiated in 2019 and expressed happiness that its first phase is being commissioned by the Governor, who equally is the initiator.

Other stakeholders, including the former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Christopher Enweremadu and the Commissioner representing Isialangwa North & South in ASOPADEC, Chief Uzoma Ihuka said the road has been a nightmare and remained unaccessible for the past 25 years and expressed gratitude to the Governor for constructing the road as well as his other numerous projects which has created multiple chains of employment for the people.

They requested that the proposed Dry Port project be made operational as it would open the economy of the State and increase revenue generation and create massive employment opportunities for youths of the area.

Chief J.J.Okoro, the Honorable Commissioner for Joint Projects, told the Transition Committee Chairman that the team is interested in the compliance to standard and due process order than in multiplication of projects that can hardly stand the text of time.” Governance, according to Chief G.C. Onyendilefu, is a continuum” hence efforts must be made,by succeeding TC Chairmen, to complete projects initiated by their predecessors.”

Earlier in his address, the Isiala Ngwa Council TC boss, Hon.Nwogwugwu Udo Y.O., welcomed the guest Commissioners and their team to his Council and thanked them for their diligence in carrying out the assignment given them by the Governor of the state.

He also expressed thanks to God for the victory of His Excellency, the Governor, at the Supreme court, over Dr Alex Otti of APGA .

According to Hon. Nwogwugwu, the victory testifies that “Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu’s mandate is divinely ordained”. He also acknowledged that the visit of the project monitoring team is”an eloquent testimony, to the fact, that Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu Ph.D will not relent in the delivery of democracy dividends to the people of Isiala Ngwa North L.G.A and the entire Abia State.”

The TC Chairman further listed both the ongoing and completed projects in his Council that is available for inspection. He mentioned four key projects: Ultra modern Motor Park at Isiala Ngwa Junction (Ahiaba Okpuala), Street Lightning Project at Okpuala Ngwa, Three classroom blocks with Headmaster’s office at Migrant Primary School Ihie and Two boreholes at the Local Government Headquarters.

During the inspection tour, which took the team to the four projects mentioned by the Council boss and others executed by past TC Chairmen, the Honorable Commissioners acknowledged that the projects are indeed ambitious but enjoined the TC Chairman to stick to standard and due process in the implementation of all projects. On the borehole projects, within the Council premises, the Project inspection team emphasised that the reticulation of the completed water project should be done immediately to enable staff enjoy the facilities. The team also advised that efforts should be made to resolve issues with PHCN to enable the Council enjoy regular electricity supply instead of relying on Generator.

At the on going ultra modern Park, the inspection team observed that the Lock up stores ,albeit commendable, are too close to the high tension cable hence the need to get a clearance certificate from PHCN authorizing them to proceed with the project. The Council chief was also encouraged to intensify efforts to resolve whatever disputes that exists with the hosts villages on the Motor park and at the Ntigha market projects.

Overall, the Inspection team was pleased with the performance of Isiala Ngwa North Council but believes, however, that there is room for improvement.
