The first African team to reach the quarter-final of the World Cup, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon will take on Switzerland as action move to group G today.
Cameroon coach, Rigobert Song believes his side can hurt Switzerland despite the gulf between both sides in the FIFA rankings. While Switzerland are ranked 15th Cameroon occupies the 43rd spot.
Switzerland have never lost a World Cup opening match since 1966 when they were thrashed 5-0 by Germany.
Unfortunately, Cameroon will be going into this game knowing that they have lost their last seven World Cup matches. This is a good opportunity for the Indomitable Lions to break the jinx.
Later in the day, the most successful side at the World Cup, Brazil will take on Serbia. The last time Brazil lost a group stage match was in 1998 when they lost to Norway. They have gone ahead to win 12 of their group matches drawing only three.
Neymar is the Brazilian man to watch as he has been declared fit for tonight’s match. The PSG forward has been directly involved in 42% of Brazil’s last 19 World Cup goals, scoring six and assisting two.
Serbia on their part will want to rewrite history as Japan and Saudi Arabia has done so far at this World Cup. The last time Serbia (under Yugoslavia) defeated Brazil was on June 3, 1934, the encounter ended 8-4. Since then Brazil remain unbeaten in their past 17 meetings.

The post Qatar 2022: Indomitable Lions Seek to Devour Switzerland first appeared on National Ambassador News.

The Akwa Ibom State governor, Udom Emmanuel, has pledged to pay the Super Eagles $10,000 per goal scored by the team in its game against Cameroon in their 2018 World Cup qualifier in Uyo on Friday.

The governor has also fulfilled a similar pledge he made the team in its game against Algeria by paying them $30,000.

The Super Eagles beat Algeria 3-1 in a 2018 World Cup Group B qualifier last year.

Governor Emmanuel also called on Nigerians to give total support to the Eagles with prayers as well as going to the Uyo stadium to cheer the team to victory against the Indomitable Lions.

“You (Eagles) should be able to hold the Lions; I believe the Lions by this time tomorrow (Friday) will not be able to roar. We believe in prayers. We also need your support. You have to do something to ensure that, at least, we project our own to the world.

“I don’t know how I feel when I hear of some people collecting almost £300m and some of our players are equally talented enough to collect that kind of money. Nobody has the monopoly of sports. Let us also encourage our own. I’ll like to see some of these players there,” he said.

The post Super Eagles to get $10,000 per goal against Cameroon first appeared on National Ambassador News.
