The PDP suffered heavy loss in the elections as President Muhammadu Buhari defeated Atiku Abubakar in the state while Dankwambo also lost his bid to represent Gombe north senatorial district in the national assembly.

Sa’idu Alkali of the All Progressives Congress (APC) clinched the senatorial ticket with 152,546 votes as against the 88,016 votes Dankwambo had.

In the governorship election,Inuwa Yahaya of the APC also defeated Bayero Nafada, his PDP rival.

In a tweet on Saturday, Dankwambo said despite the betrayal, he has remained more dedicated to the opposition party.

He said he did not leave PDP in 2015 when it was “fashionable” to do so and he would not do so now.

“Many betrayed our great party in Gombe but time will tell. Their betrayal though painful has made me more dedicated to the PDP. As a loyal party man, even when it was the fashionable thing in the North to abandon the party in 2015, I never did. We will be vindicated,” the tweet read.

The Gombe governor had lost the presidential ticket of the opposition party to Atiku.

Dankwambo, who was a presidential hopeful under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, insisted that Buhari was beneath Nigeria.

Dankwambo in series of tweets, said.  “The hallmark of good leadership is in concrete action on behalf of the people and not in a body language that says nothing other than confounding the masses.

“Enough is enough!
Enough of weakness arrogantly dressed up as introspection!

“Enough of cluelessness sold as thoughtfulness!
Enough of mediocrity paraded as integrity.

“The current leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari is weak, de-energized, incompetent and far beneath Nigeria.

“It is time to move forward and in the right direction!

“The end must be put to the phenomenon of showmanship as statesmanship, deception of the masses as fight against corruption and incompetence compounded with ignorance as old-age wisdom.”

He said that Babachir’s arrest may not be unconnected to the lengthy letter by Former president Olusefun Obasanjo advising Buhari not to seek re-election.

Dankwambo questioned why Buhari had to take a year to arrest thee ex-SGF, stressing that it was too late to deceive Nigerians.

In a Twit on his official twitter page, he asked “Why did it take one year to arrest Babachir Lawal? Is it because former President Obasanjo spoke up yesterday? It’s too late to deceive Nigerians.

“You can’t be deceiving Nigerians on one hand you want to fight corruption and next minute you are supporting it. It’s too late.

“Nigeria needs more work than prayers. The essence of leadership is to work for the people not to urge them to be praying.”
