According to Obi-Chianakwalam, under the CPS, government as well as workers will make contributions towards the retirements of civil servants. She further disclosed that the scheme is geared towards making sure that civil servants, do not suffer or struggle during or at retirement, thereby, ensuring a seamless transition from an active life to a retired life. Explaing further on the benefits of the CPS, she said that at retirement, a lump sum of money is given, you don’t have to worry whether you are receiving your pension or getting your gratuity,as everything is taken care of.

She also explained that for registration into the CPS, eligible civil servants are required to provide their National Identification Number (NIN), employment letter, staff identification card and a passport photograph in a white background.

To make the exercise stress free for workers, the Perm.Sectretary disclosed that the Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs), will come to the various ministries, department and Agencies and do the enrollment, as there will not be any need to cluster together in one place.

In her own contribution, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Productivity, Mrs Ijioma Clara Dim, said that she was very happy and elated that God has made it possible for Abia state to commence the CPS, describing the scheme as very powerful and wonderful that will help in the state as it has been helping other states for retirees to be receiving their pensions as at when due.
In their separate submissions, some labour leaders in the state, described the scheme as a good development that will reduce the inconsistencies in pension payment.

According to the chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Abia state Chapter, Comrade Okoro Ogbonnaya, the CPS has been enacted into law by the Abia state house of Assembly. ‘By Virtue of enacting the CPS into law, the scheme is backed by law, which makes it a first charge as the government of Abia state must first of all deduct whatever percentage that is for workers pension before any other thing’, he further stated.

Okoro also said that as long as Abia state continues to exist, the scheme will continue to go on even after the present administration. He also disclosed that the contribution for the CPS will in two parts, while the government will contribute 8%, civil servants will contribute 7%, making it a total contribution of 15%. He described the scheme as very safe and commended Gov.Obi for taking a right step in the right direction as it will mark a departure from the past where civil servants may put up to 35 years in service or 60 years and will go home with nothing.

Eneogwe further reiterated that henceforth, anybody that retired from the CPS will be sure and be entitled to effective and constant pension payment in the state. ‘The money is deducted at source starting from the Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) to individuals monthly contributions. They also asked for more further engagements from the PFAs to know what to expect at retirement.

The Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, has advised couples to uphold tolerance, patience, and forgiveness as essential virtues for a lasting marriage.

Governor Otti gave the charge on Sunday December 7, 2025 during the Golden Jubilee celebration of Sir Leonard Ikeotuonye Okoye (KSJI, KSSG) and Lady Alice Nneka Okoye (LAUX, KSJI), held at St. Ambrose Catholic Parish, Ogbor-Hill, Aba.

In his remarks, Governor Otti described 50 years of marriage as a remarkable milestone that demands mutual endurance and deliberate commitment.
“Fifty years in matrimony is not a joke. It represents years of tolerance, patience, acceptance, and a determined decision to remain together,” he said.

He emphasized that disagreements are a natural part of every relationship, noting that “no two persons, not even twins, can live together for long without misunderstandings.” He commended the celebrants—Sir Leo, fondly known as Uduakomiri, and his wife—for sustaining their union for five decades.

The Governor also revealed that he recently marked his own 32nd wedding anniversary two months ago and prayed that he and his wife would celebrate their 50th anniversary in 18 years’ time.

He further urged couples to remain faithful to their vows and expressed gratitude that the Catholic Church upholds marriage as a lifelong commitment, disallowing divorce.

The chairman of the occasion, Chief Sir John O. Udeagbala, MD/CEO of J.O. Udeagbala Holdings and former Mayor of Aba North LGA, appreciated all guests—especially the Governor—for honouring the celebration. He described Sir Leo as a humble and God-fearing man whose life of service is worthy of emulation.

In his homily, the officiating minister, His Lordship, Most Rev. Jonas Benson Okoye, Catholic Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, delivered a message titled “The True Conversion That Brings Salvation.”
He reminded couples that God will hold them accountable for the upbringing of their children and urged families to be conscious of their conduct before their children, who constantly observe and learn from them.

Bishop Okoye stressed the importance of tolerance, endurance, and patience in family life, noting that these virtues flow naturally where genuine love exists. He added that true conversion is the foundation of salvation and likened God’s relationship with believers to the commitment seen in marriage.
He encouraged families to seek renewal through the Holy Spirit to sustain lasting unions.

Highlights of the ceremony included the exchange of marriage vows by the celebrants, presentation of the Pope’s Papal Blessing, and presentation of a commemorative picture frame.

The Chairman of CADEES Group, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso (OFUJI GLOBAL), has praised the launch of the Aba Made Film Project: The Chronicles of Enyimba City, describing it as a celebration of Aba’s cultural heritage, resilience, and long-standing entrepreneurial spirit.

Speaking at the official flag-off ceremony held on Saturday at the Aba Town Hall, where he served as Chairman of the occasion, Anyaso said the project would spotlight Enyimba City’s legacy of innovation and tradition while promoting cultural tourism, local storytelling, and youth empowerment.

He noted that the initiative aligns with the Abia State Government’s vision of using arts, culture, and tourism as tools for socio-economic development and job creation. According to him, the project would help revive the movie industry as an avenue for social re-engineering and restore Aba’s historical position as one of the early powerhouses of Nollywood.

Anyaso expressed gratitude to the Executive Governor of Abia State and Brand Ambassador of the project, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, for his commitment and support. He expressed optimism that the film project would produce a compelling narrative that strengthens community pride and fuels a broader cultural revival in Abia. He also urged private citizens to partner with the government in expanding the Nigerian creative economy for the benefit of future generations.

As guests awaited Governor Otti’s formal declaration of the project’s commencement, Anyaso encouraged attendees to enjoy the day’s activities. He also acknowledged the presence of dignitaries, including Senator Enyinnaya Harcourt Abaribe (represented by Mrs. Olewengwa), the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, the Secretary to the State Government, the Mayor of Aba South LGA, the Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, and the keynote speaker, Chief Bob-Manuel Udokwu.

Governor Otti, while unveiling the state’s plans for the creative sector, announced an ambitious initiative to establish an entertainment village aimed at reclaiming Aba’s reputation as the “Cradle of Entertainment” in Nigeria. He also revealed ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure, including the construction of two five-star hotels in Aba and Umuahia.

Reaffirming commitments made in his manifesto, the Governor said: “We are about to start the Abia State Stadium Village. It has a games village and an entertainment village. It is meant to be in Umuahia, but we can discuss bringing it to Aba. I want the best for this industry.”

He commended the entertainment sector’s resilience and acknowledged Aba’s historical role in the emergence of Nollywood’s commercial distribution network.

In his goodwill messages, Senator Abaribe (represented), Speaker Emmanuel Emeruwa, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, and Dr. Anyaso lauded the producers of the Aba Made Film Project and praised Governor Otti for his efforts to reshape Abia’s socio-cultural landscape.

Earlier in his remarks, the Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Mr. Matthew Ekwuribe, described the project as a catalyst capable of restoring Aba’s former glory. He expressed confidence that the initiative would highlight the city’s cultural heritage and dynamic economic environment.

Delivering a keynote address titled “Elevating Abia’s Image Through Cinematic Excellence,” Nollywood veteran Bob-Manuel Udokwu said the project was a strategic cultural, commercial, and creative investment capable of boosting Abia’s image, driving economic activity, and repositioning the South-East. He commended Governor Otti’s visionary leadership and expressed faith in the project team’s ability to establish a world-class film village.

Nollywood star Chinedu Ikedieze (Aki), speaking on behalf of the artistes present, applauded the Otti administration for its infrastructure initiatives and thanked the Governor for standing by his promises to the creative industry. He assured that Nollywood practitioners would continue to represent Abia proudly on national and global stages.

The Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria (CYON), Abia State Chapter, has expressed its unflinching support and vote of confidence in the administration of His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, the Executive Governor of Abia State.

Speaking during the maiden Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria (CYON) Conference—comprising the Umuahia and Aba Dioceses, as well as the Umunneochi, Uturu, and Isuikwuato deaneries—held at Mater Dei Cathedral, Umuahia, the Deputy General Manager of the Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA), Umuahia Zone, and Conference Convener, Catechist Ambrose Jonah, charged Christians to be agents of positive change in society.

He urged the youths to live exemplary lives as “the salt of the earth and the light of the world,” referencing Matthew 5:14. Jonah further advised Catholic youths to remain focused, avoid distractions, and engage in activities that promote their spiritual and moral growth, thereby contributing to the growth of the Church.

The environmental expert commended Governor Alex Otti for his developmental strides across the state, citing notable achievements such as the construction of quality roads, improvements in education, healthcare delivery, and empowerment initiatives across the 17 Local Government Areas. According to him, these accomplishments are clear indicators of good governance and justification for continued support for the governor.

He added that the Otti administration has extended development to the grassroots, paying special attention to agriculture and sports.

In her remarks, Lady Vivian Ogwumike expressed satisfaction with the zeal and dedication of Catholic youths in contributing meaningfully to state development through service in their respective capacities.

Responding, the Umuahia Catholic Youth Leader, Catechist Igboeche Ernest, highlighted several life-changing projects across Abia State in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, and rural development as reflections of Governor Otti’s responsible leadership and financial prudence.

According to him, Governor Otti has ushered in a new era of peace, accountability, and people-oriented governance. He praised the administration’s focus on rural transformation, agricultural development, entrepreneurship, and fiscal discipline, noting that it has restored public confidence in government and expanded economic opportunities for Abians.

He, however, appealed to the governor to fulfill the few remaining campaign promises made to the Catholic youth, particularly in the area of empowerment.

Also speaking, Ambassador John Nwigwe dismissed opposition claims of underperformance, affirming that Governor Otti’s inclusive style of leadership has brought peace and stability to Abia State.

Declaring the forum’s continued support for the governor beyond 2027, Amb. Nwigwe described the current administration as a “refreshing season of responsible leadership and economic renewal” under Dr. Alex Otti’s stewardship.

The leader of the Ofuji Movement and former Deputy Governorship Candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Dr. Chima Desmond Anyasọ, has applauded Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, for what he described as visionary leadership and an unwavering commitment to infrastructure renewal across the state.

Dr. Anyasọ’s commendation followed the commissioning of several high-impact projects by the governor, including the reconstructed Port Harcourt Road and newly completed Obohia Road both in Aba as well as the remodeled Michael Okpara Auditorium in Umuahia.

<img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-220032" src="https://i0.wp.com/nationalambassadorngr.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/WhatsApp-Image-2025-10-04-at-11.51.19-AM.jpeg?resize=720%2C900&ssl=1" alt="Ofuji Movement Leader Hails Gov.
Large contingents of Ofuji Movement supporters were present at the ceremonies, reflecting growing public support for Governor Otti’s developmental initiatives.

In a goodwill message delivered during the events, Dr. Anyasọ thanked Governor Otti for what he called the faithful execution of the “New Abia” vision.

He noted that the administration’s focus on rebuilding critical infrastructure was already easing daily challenges faced by residents while restoring public trust in government.

<img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-220033" src="https://i0.wp.com/nationalambassadorngr.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/WhatsApp-Image-2025-10-04-at-11.51.18-AM-1.jpeg?resize=720%2C900&ssl=1" alt="Ofuji Movement Leader Hails Gov.
“These projects are not just roads or buildings they are catalysts for economic revitalization,” Anyasọ said. “The ongoing reconstruction and modernization efforts are enhancing transportation, improving commerce, and laying the groundwork for broader economic growth.”

He also praised the governor’s strategic approach to sustainable development, stressing that the initiatives are positioning Abia as a regional hub for innovation and prosperity.

Dr. Anyasọ reaffirmed the Ofuji Movement’s commitment to supporting policies and projects that foster good governance and improve the welfare of the people of Abia State.

In the realm of governance and development, facts—not fantasy—should define public discourse. Yet, in recent times, Mr. Obinna Oriaku, a former public officeholder, has made it his pastime to weaponize misinformation in pursuit of political relevance. While these theatrics may entertain the uninformed, they must be addressed decisively when they threaten the credibility of multilateral engagements and the developmental trajectory of Abia State under the leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR.

This statement is not a response to Mr. Oriaku’s theatrics. Rather, it is a clarion call to all well-meaning Abians, our development partners, and discerning observers, to uphold truth over propaganda.

1. RAAMP: Reviving a Dead Project and Setting New Standards

It is on record that the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) was virtually comatose until the intervention of Dr. Alex Otti’s administration. Under the leadership of His Excellency, the project was revived, restructured, and repositioned as a flagship infrastructure program.

Upon assumption of office, Dr. Otti immediately reconstituted the project team, strengthened institutional frameworks, and insisted on compliance with international best practices. This led to Abia RAAMP being ranked among the top-performing states in Nigeria by the World Bank in 2024.

Most notably, the doggedness and firm commitment of His Excellency made it possible for the World Bank to listen to our technical concerns, particularly on the issue of using stone base instead of laterite for road foundations. After rigorous engagement and engineering justification, the Bank approved the change.

This achievement is a clear reflection of the Governor’s passion for quality, durability, and excellence in project delivery. Dr. Otti’s stand was simple yet profound: “We must build roads that last, not roads that wash away.” His foresight and insistence on higher construction standards continue to save the state billions in avoidable repairs and public frustration.

2. The AKPAVAN Procurement Issue: Facts vs. Fiction

The claim that the AKPAVAN Ltd contract was reversed due to political interference is not only baseless but also reveals a profound misunderstanding of World Bank protocols.

The bidding process was managed through the World Bank’s Systematic Tracking of Exchanges in Procurement (STEP) platform—an internationally benchmarked system that tracks procurement in real-time. The bid validity period expired, and in line with procurement rules, the process was cancelled. There was no “reversal,” no “interference,” and certainly no malpractice.

3. The “Begging” Allegation: A Falsehood Taken Too Far

The allegation that I “begged” to serve under a former RAAMP Coordinator in 2017 is entirely fabricated.

That year, during Abia’s initial entry into RAAMP, I was engaged by the World Bank as an Independent Environmental and Social Safeguards Consultant to lead the Eligibility Criteria Review and develop the Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) for the proposed 19.1km Ituko–Amagwu Road.

The Former Coordinator in question lacked both the technical qualifications and experience with multilateral systems. Records from the World Bank, Federal Ministries, and development institutions confirm this.

4. Nigeria for Women Project (NFWP): A Model of Success, Not Delisting

Mr. Oriaku falsely claimed that Abia was “delisted” from the Nigeria for Women Project (NFWP). This claim would be laughable if it weren’t so embarrassing.

It’s obvious Mr. Oriaku has zero understanding of how multilateral programs operate. The reality is that Abia State was never delisted. In fact, we recently received commendation from the World Bank Safeguards Mission Team during their field visit in March 2025 for successful implementation of collective livelihood infrastructure, machine installations, and community mobilization.

If Abia was truly delisted as Mr. Oriaku ridiculously claims, how then did the World Bank come to the state in March this year and give a positive commendation to the team?

It is either Mr. Oriaku is intentionally misleading the public, or he is sadly out of touch with how development projects are run under this administration. Either way, his assertions are false, shallow, and self-defeating.

5. Proven Track Record: Built on Experience, Resilience, and the Grace of God

Before my appointment by His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, I had already built a strong and respected career as an Environmental and Social Development Consultant with proven competence in delivering major World Bank–supported and multilateral development projects across Nigeria.

This was not handed to me; it came through years of resilience, discipline, sacrifice, and the unmerited favour of God. I rose through the ranks professionally, handling assignments that required deep technical expertise, field-based experience, stakeholder coordination, and compliance with international environmental and social safeguards frameworks.

Below is a verifiable list of some of the World Bank and multilateral projects I personally contributed to before joining the Abia State Government:

Each of these projects demanded high-level technical input, international engagement, and institutional knowledge, all of which I delivered diligently and professionally.

Let it be clearly stated: My appointment was based on merit. Contrary to the political spin from Mr. Oriaku, Governor Otti appointed me not because of political ties, but because of a track record that speaks for itself. My work, my publications, my consultancy footprints, and my client endorsements are all available in the public domain. I invite Mr. Oriaku to go and verify me.

– The German Consul General

– The Vietnamese Ambassador to Nigeria

– The United Kingdom Deputy High Commission

These high-level engagements are unlocking bilateral partnerships and investments in agriculture, health, clean energy, trade, education, infrastructure, and technology, all contributing to the sustainable growth and global positioning of Abia State.

Transformational Impact: What This Means for Abians

The significance of these multilateral engagements under His Excellency’s administration cannot be overstated. They have directly translated into life-changing outcomes for the people of Abia State:

– Global Credibility: Abia is now recognized as a model sub-national government committed to transparency and reform

– Massive Grant Inflows: Tens of millions of dollars in non-loan donor funding unlocked for critical sectors

– Institutional Strengthening: Capacity building for MDAs, leading to better governance and service delivery

– Increased Visibility: Abia is now on the radar of global development and investment partners

– Job Creation & Economic Growth: Investments in education, agriculture, SMEs, digital innovation, and healthcare are opening up opportunities across all LGAs

– Improved Quality of Life: Projects are directly impacting lives through improved health systems, modern schools, clean energy access, and climate-resilient infrastructure

These achievements reflect more than just statistics; they reflect Governor Alex Otti’s reform-minded governance, global perspective, and bold decision-making. Abia is not just rising; it is leading.

His Excellency is not just governing; he is transforming. His administration stands out for its clarity of purpose, fiscal discipline, integrity, and commitment to global best practices. The transformation being witnessed today is not theoretical; it is tangible and evident across every sector.

Just to add, outside of the ongoing World Bank–supported RAAMP and ACReSAL projects, the present administration has successfully positioned Abia State to be eligible for several new pipeline World Bank–supported projects. These include:

1. The Sustainable Power and Irrigation for Nigeria (SPIN) Project – Abia State has been officially selected to participate.

2. The Nigeria Human Capital Opportunity for Prosperity and Equity (HOPE) Project – Abia has also been confirmed as one of the participating states.

3. The Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project – Abia has qualified and will benefit from this intervention as well.

Additionally, the Abia State Integrated Infrastructure Development (ABSIID) Project, which saw no tangible progress under the previous administration, has been revived. Under His Excellency’s leadership, we have made remarkable strides, and the state is now ready for a drawdown of $100 million from the African Development Bank (AfDB) and $50 million from the Canadian Climate Trust Fund to support the project’s rollout.

Furthermore, Abia State is 80% ready for inclusion in the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) initiative, having successfully completed nearly all prerequisite conditions.

There are several other critical multilateral projects currently in the pipeline, each carefully aligned with our development priorities. While most of the projects secured under partnerships with the European Union, IOM, and UNDP are grant-funded, we are evaluating the World Bank–listed projects for potential blended financing options, including co-financing, concessional loans, and grant components. In all these efforts, the Office of the SSA on Multilateral and Donor Agencies is committed to ensuring that every project aligns with His Excellency’s priorities and the thematic focus of this administration for maximum impact and sustainability.

A Legacy of Substance, Not Soundbites

Let the records show—Abia is what it is today because of the courage, clarity, and capacity of Governor Alex Otti.

– Where others politicized governance, he professionalized it.

– Where others chased headlines, he delivered substance.

– Where systems had broken down, he is rebuilding with global standards.

His legacy will not be in promises made but in impact delivered, and the lives of Abians transformed under his watch.

Conclusion: Facts Over Falsehood—Leadership, Not Lies

In the face of deliberate misinformation and politically motivated propaganda, let it be clearly stated: our focus remains firmly on delivering measurable results, not trading words with political merchants who thrive on deception and nostalgia for a failed past.

Mr. Oriaku has, regrettably, reduced himself to a serial propagandist—loud on social media, empty on substance, and thoroughly disconnected from the facts on ground. He offers no solutions, no substance, no relevance, only stale narratives and compulsive fabrications designed to distract and derail. But we are too focused on building the future of Abia to be distracted by a man who lies for a living.

While he peddles falsehoods about World Bank delistings and project failures—claims so poorly thought out that they collapse under the weight of common sense—we are busy securing grants, strengthening institutions, creating jobs, and transforming lives across all 17 LGAs.

And to those who still entertain his antics, let us ask a simple question: if Abia was delisted as Mr. Oriaku falsely claims, how then did the World Bank Safeguards Team not only visit Abia in March this year but also commended our efforts and progress? The answer is simple: he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

Mr. Oriaku is not a stakeholder in Abia’s development. He is a man trapped in the echoes of yesterday, trying desperately to stay relevant in a state that has clearly moved on. The good people of Abia have seen through the façade. They now see him for what he truly is—a bitter, displaced political relic turned internet troll.

This government, under His Excellency Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, will not descend into the gutters of propaganda. We will not dignify the desperate tantrums of those who once had their chance and squandered it. Instead, we will keep building, keep reforming, keep engaging, and keep winning for the people of Abia.

The future belongs to the builders, not the bitter.

To the reformers, not the retrogressive.

To truth , not falsehood.

Abia is rising, and no amount of noise from political bystanders will stop it.

THE NEW ABIA IS HERE.

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, has assured the host communities of oil and gas companies in the state that his administration would ensure that their lands are not polluted by the activities of oil production.

He gave the assurance during the inauguration of Maxwell Nwaghara and other executive members of the Abia State chapter of the Oil and Gas Host Communities Committee.

The Governor, who observed that many of the oil-producing communities in Abia and the Niger Delta at large are in terrible conditions and cannot boast of meaningful development over the past 60 years despite producing the oil that lubricates the nation’s economy, emphasized his commitment to change the status quo.

According to him, the era of waste in oil and gas is over, as his administration will ensure that the benefits of oil and gas are delivered to the communities, including economic prosperity, environmental protection, and social equity.

The Executive Governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Professor Joel Ogbonna, said that his administration has taken bold steps to protect the interests of host communities in the state through initiatives such as the Abia State Industrial and Innovation Park, the building of a modular refinery at Owaza, and the payment of compensation to landowners, among others.

“The oil and gas sector is supposed to bring economic prosperity, environmental protection, and social equity, but if you come around the Niger Delta or even in Abia State, where this oil is being produced, economic prosperity and environmental protection are not evident,” he said.

“The land is gone, the water is gone, and the air is polluted,” the Governor lamented.

He, however, assured the host communities in Abia State that oil companies operating in their areas have been directed to show what they have done for the host communities and to implement local content policies by giving 70% of jobs to the indigenes of the community.

He further announced that oil production has increased from about 8,000 barrels per day to about 34,000 in the state, attributing the achievements to the peace, control, and watchfulness of his administration.

He noted that the executives of the Host Communities of Oil and Gas were not imposed by the Abia State government but were elected by the people.

In his speech while inaugurating the Abia State Executive Committee, the National President of the Oil and Gas Host Communities, Benjamin Style, who was represented by the National Vice Chairman, Ibinabo Sanipe, appealed to the Federal Government and the state government to pay attention to the pains and sufferings of the host communities.

He also urged the inaugurated executives to carry everyone along and to work closely with the state government in achieving the desired goals in the interests of host communities.

In his vote of thanks, the elected chairman, Mr. Maxwell Nwaghara, appreciated the Governor for the good works he is doing in the state by keeping his campaign promises.

Nwaghara said his tenure would collaborate with the government to bring the dividends of democracy to host communities producing oil and gas, emphasizing that the host community is not a political association but supports any government in power.

He further charged his executive members to carry out their duties with dignity and work for the growth of their community, as this administration has zero tolerance for corruption.

The post Gov Otti Assures Oil Producing Communities first appeared on National Ambassador News.

Upon assumption of office as the Executive Governor of Abia State on May 19, 2023, His Excellency Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, swung into action to revive, retrofit, rejuvenate, and reposition Aba, the Enyimba City, to its former glory in all its infrastructural fronts. Governor Otti placed infrastructural development at the forefront of his administration’s agenda. In the 19 months of his administration, numerous road projects have been executed in Aba, including the 6.8 kilometers Port Harcourt Road, contracted to construction giant Julius Berger, which is over 85 percent complete. Other projects include Old Court Road, Kent Road, and Ehi Road, commissioned for use on May 24, 2024. Work is progressing smoothly on Ohanku Road, Ndoki Road, and the 3.5 kilometers Osisioma-Ekeakpara Road.

Other roads, including University Road, Green Avenue, and College Road, were commissioned on May 29, 2024, where the governor pledged to transform the commercial capital of the state into a modern, functional city.

In line with Governor Otti’s infrastructural development agenda, aimed at boosting the economy of the state and enhancing both intra- and inter-connectivity, the governor commissioned Obiara Road in Aba, which was built with a double drainage system and solar-powered street lights.

Emelogu Road

Furthermore, on December 13, 2024, Governor Otti officially commissioned three roads in Aba, including 1.6 kilometers Cemetery Road Phase 2, 2.7 kilometers Umuocham Road, and 1.6 kilometers Umule Road. During the event, the governor expressed his satisfaction with the strides his administration has made in intra-city road networks over the past 18 months, adding that he is intentional in responding to the infrastructural challenges of Aba.

The governor has also enhanced the aesthetic nature of Enyimba City by constructing befitting roundabouts with waterfalls at Bata Junction, Azikiwe by Asa Road, and many others that are ongoing across Aba.

In addition, all junctions along Aba Owerri Road up to Number 1 are now connected to functional solar-powered streetlights and traffic lights, aimed at reducing accidents, even in the darkest of nights. The administration has also built modern CNG bus stops at all bus stops along Aba Owerri Road, with 85 percent completion.

Aba, popularly known as the commercial nerve center and distinguished by the proliferation of industrialists from the South-East, harbors a vision of industrialization epitomized by the “Made-in-Aba” brand. However, the realization of Aba’s industrial potential was hampered by the absence of quality, uninterrupted power supply—an essential ingredient to drive innovation and transform Aba into a thriving industrial hub. This was until Dr. Alex Otti took power, and the Geometric Power Plant was commissioned, changing the story.

During the commissioning, after 20 years of back-and-forth, on February 26, 2024, Governor Otti said: “As a leader in the private sector many years ago, and now as the governor of the state, I consider the Geometric Integrated Power Project to be very special and dear to my heart because of the immense potential it holds for the economic and social rejuvenation of Aba as a preferred destination for enterprise growth, family life, and leisure.” Since then, Aba has witnessed about a 15 percent increase in access to quality and uninterrupted electricity supply.

This, together with the Aba Industrial Development Project, has been a cornerstone of Otti’s economic transformation. Small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) in Aba have grown by over 20%.

Governor Otti has remained committed, since assumption of office, to bringing Aba to an enviable global destination and strategic trading hub in West Africa. On August 9, 2024, he flagged off the remodeling of Ekeoha Market, where he said, “Rebuilding Aba is difficult, but necessary.”

The post Governor Otti’s Rapid Infrastructural Development of Aba and Its Suburbs in the Past 19 Months first appeared on National Ambassador News.

Something memorable happened in Abia State on May 29, 2023. It was the day His Excellency Dr. Alex Chioma Otti (OFR) was sworn in as the 5th democratically elected Governor of Abia State. Almighty God crowned the swearing-in- ceremony with showers of light rain. Ndi-Abia, servants of God, people of goodwill from all walks of life, including notable opposition parties defied the light rain to witness the historic event in Umuahia.

As expected, Governor Alex Otti used the occasion of his maiden speech to announce what his Administration has in stock for Ndi Abia and people living in God’s Own State. Among other things, our dear Governor promised a complete departure from the old order, stressing that his government is on course to do things differently. He lost no time to announce that he is in politics to birth a new Abia, where provision of adequate security and social welfare of Ndi Abia is the mainstay of his administration.

Right there at the swearing in ceremony, Governor Otti declared a state of emergency on waste management in the State. Thereafter, an environmental taskforce were set up to get the job done. It could be recalled that the Urban Centres of the State were under threat of being swallowed by piles and mountains of refuse, rubbish and debris. Everywhere you go in Umuahia, the State Capital and Aba, the commercial nerve centre of the State, were littered with decaying heaps of refuse and other forms of solid waste.

The marching order issued by His Excellency swiftly turned the tide of environmental cleanliness in the state around. The fact check remains that Abia State under the leadership of Governor Alex Otti is emerging as one of the cleanest States in Nigeria.

Our land of birth, Nigeria, is encumbered with series of security threats, for many years now. Openly, non-state actors are bearing arms against their father land. Abia as an integral part of the nation is not exempted from this ugly development. As a matter of fact, incidents of armed robbery attacks, kidnapping for ransom, people disappearing without trace, car snatching, armed herdsmen destroying people’s farmland with their flock, cyber crimes and other criminalities were reported in both conventional and new media in the State.

The security conscious governor of Abia State quickly soared to action by rolling out measures to address the security threats frontally. One of such measures was the launching of “operation crush” in the state, a few weeks ago. Many brand new security vehicles were donated to the security experts to address the security challenge frontally. On a joyful note, security agents have arrested some unscrupulous hoodlums around several flash-points in the State.

Another amazing project undertaken by Governor Otti to further beef up the security of the state, within his 100 days in office, is Operation light up the city. Government undertook this project in order to illuminate the city at night, grow night businesses as well as eliminate dark spots, where criminal elements hide to snatch phones, bags and other valuables at night.

Public sector workers in the state have described Governor Alex Otti as a “leader that walks his talk”. On assumption of duty, our dear Governor, promised Abia workforce of better days ahead. He indeed promised that workers salary would be paid on or before 28 day of the month. The promise keeping Governor has not deviated from thus promise, since he assumed duties.

Healthcare delivery is another sector that received an emergency attention of His Excellency. As we all are aware, health is wealth and only healthy souls can contribute meaningful to the task of nation- building. The health-friendly Governor of Abia State has therefore ordered the immediate and comprehensive rehabilitation and renovation of three General Hospitals across the 3 senatorial Zones in the State. These hospitals are located in Umuahia, Aba and Umunneato. The regime under review has equally offered free medical treatment to sick people dwelling in the state.

Again, this administration has joyfully started the registration of free health insurance scheme that would cater for State pensioners below the rank of director. Too, plans are underway to extend the same gesture to the poor, vulnerable, disable, women with Child bearing age, among several others. What we are witnessing today has demonstrated in clear relief that Governor Otti’s main mission in government is to work towards the common good of all and sundry.

There is no doubt that education occupies a pride of place in the government of Dr. Alex Otti. This explains why a lot of innovative programmes have been put in place by this administration to turn around the educational fortunes of Abia children and youths. Quite interestingly, this administration has “concluded plans to set up 17 model primary schools cross the LGAs in the State”. The government has also mounted capacity building workshop for Education officers, teachers and other stakeholders to sharpen the intellectual and overall development of Abia children and youths. Lest I forget, our State hosted the 82 Joint Consultative Committee on Education, in Umuahia, a while ago. The event attracted major policy makers in the field of Education and their parastatals. This is the first time, our State hosted such an August assembly, since its creation.

Another project that needs to be mentioned and celebrated is the Information dissemination and public engagement in the state. Under this administration, the public space is filled with honest information on what government has done, is doing and intends to do to reset a new Abia. In another words, this administration would not welcome any form of propaganda, false or fake stories. Neither will she accept to demarket anybody nor heat up the polity, no matter the level of provocation. Again, this administration is on course to institutionalize journalism convergence in the state, with a view to reducing cost of production of media services in the state.

The importance of good road network in the socio- economic development of any society cannot be over- emphasized. Without good roads people will find it extremely difficult to access or enjoy pleasurable ride to their business centres, markets, offices, schools, farmland, workshops or get to their desired destinations. Governor Otti understands the plight of what Abians were passing through all these years and wasted no time to embark on aggressive development and rehabilitation of “long abandoned roads within Aba metropolis and it’s environ”. It would be safe to declare that Dr. Alex has started road revolution within his 100 days in office, following the commissioning of Obehie Road many others are ready for inauguration. In the same time, robust scooping of blocked drainages and construction of new ones are common sight in urban centres to mitigate flooding menace in the State.

Again, various failed portions of major roads in Umuahia are being fixed by Governor Alex Otti led administration. A passing visit to Isi- gate – Old Umuahia -Ubakala road would show in clear terms the degree of what this administration has done in the area of good road infrastructure in the State.

From all indications, things are getting better in the State and to achieve a state of desirable end cannot be done by one man alone. So, Ndi-Abia and other people of goodwill must rally round the administration of Governor Alex Otti in his desire to imprint indelible impacts in the State that cannot be erased.

Onuigbo who made this known in Umuahia following the award of the contract for the construction of a Federal Secretariat in Umuahia, commended the President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, for his commitment to equity and all round development of the country, praising the Abia state Governor, Dr Alex Chioma Otti, for placing priority in facelifting the state, through his infrastructural development.

He said that now that the bottleneck of self-sabotage has been removed by the Governor, Abia State will in no time have its long overdue Federal Secretariat including the benefits derivable therein.

The former National lawmaker, who attracted the project since October 2019, said the takeoff of construction was delayed due to the politics of placing party above the people as exhibited by the immediate past Abia State government.

Onuigbo, however, expressed gratitude to the Abia state Governor, Otti, whom he said has shown that his focus is on the development of Abia, not minding the political party of the person attracting the developmental project.

Onuigbo equally assured Eze Nwokenna that Governor Otti is fully committed to the process and has promised that the compensation due to the host community will be expeditiously taken care of, urging the monarch to reassure his community of the commitment of the State Government to paying the necessary compensation and therefore allow contractors to get to work.

The post Onuigbo Lauds President Tinubu, Gov Otti Over Siting Federal Secretariat In Abia first appeared on National Ambassador News.

There is no doubt, that a breath of Fresh air was experienced in the democratic space of God’s Own State on May 29, 2023. Factly speaking, it was the day, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, took the oath of office as the 5th Executive Governor of Abia State. Ndi-Abia, well-meaning Nigerians and people from all walks of life defied the heavy rainfall to witness the historic swearing-in of our dear Governor.

As expected, Governor Otti used his inaugural speech to outline a series of well-articulated programmes his Administration would stir into action in order to positive change the tide of development in the state.

The next day, the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, with his entourage, made their way to Umuahia city centre, Isigate, and empirically witnessed First-hand what traders and the motoring publics were passing through in the hands of these touts. The Deputy Governor wasted no time to order these touts to stop their evil trade or be made to the full weight of the law. It could be recalled that our dear Governor had indicated earlier in his inaugural address that the reign of touts in all facets of the state be put on hold, forthwith. In a matter of minutes the war against touting was swiftly extended to Aba, the economic hub of the State.

It would be safe to assert that swarms of touts “have vowed to make life most uncomfortable and miserable for the motoring publics. Their illegal conduct has become a huge thorn in the flesh of road users in the State.

To begin with, it is a common sight to see touts harassing and tormenting all manner of road users, particularly heavy truck drivers carrying or ferrying goods and services inside and beyond the shores of Abia State. If the driver fails to grease their palms, he would be made to face a raw deal. These touts would not hesitate to deflate his tyres, engage him on a verbal insult and even attack the driver. However, if the driver complies with the illegal extortion, he would be allowed to have a free passage.

Once in a whole, some die-hard drivers would refuse to accede to their illegal demands of these touts. In such moment, the touts would ferociously engage the driver in a hot pursuit. Like a lightening, those touts would jump into a moving vehicle and free for all fight would ensure between the driver and these touts. These dangerous undertaking may result into auto crash. And most unfortunately, innocent people may be crushed to death and Valuable properties of citizens willfully destroyed.

Lest we forget, these touts do not limit their evil operations on the motorway only. They have expanded the obnoxious practices “in all facets of the State economy.

A brief stop-over at Isigate Market Umuahia would show in practical terms the excruciating pains traders, ranging from old women, petty traders, those hawking sachet water, groundnuts, etc. were suffering in hands of these touts. On sighting anyone carrying any wares, these touts would rapidly descend upon the hopeless fellow with a view to extorting their hard earned income. Of course no receipt is issued once money exchanged hands. However, woe would betide any trader that fails to oblige these touts, as the fellow would face the risk of having his wares destroyed, confiscated at extreme case, these heartless touts would have sand poured into the traders garri, rice or beans. The fear of touts in the market is the beginning of wisdom in Abia State.

Strangely again, it would be most unwise to show up in a bank in the State Capital with one’s Vehicle. As we know, most banks have small premises that would hardly accommodate most of their clients Vehicles. At such moment, bank customers would be forced to park their Vehicles outside the bank premises. By the time one is through with his banking transactions, awaiting touts would have removed the vehicle plate number of bank customer. No amount of grammar or logic would save the fellow from parting with huge sum of money before these touts would return the Vehicle plate number to him or her.

In recent times, anyone contemplating building any structure anywhere in the state must be prepared to settle plethora of touts or the project would not see the light of the day. The same applies to people trying to buy land for any project. Touts are everywhere seeking who to settle them or the land deal would not sail through.

Furthermore, if you wish to obtain a new driver’s license or renewed old ones with vehicle particulars, the story is the same. Touts would not let you deal directly with the authorised officers, most of the time. In a nutshell, there is no sector of the State economy that is free from the menace of touts.

Society cannot remain helpless and allow these touts to roar unabated. Accordingly, the security agent, Ndi-Abia must align with the administration of Governor Otti to permanently put these swarms of touts out of business as their conduct is not adding any value to the socio-economic well-being of the State.
