The Niger Delta Development Initiative group has disclosed that the people of Niger Delta would only support a presidential candidate who would embark on restructuring and true federalism and would not pay lip service on its fight against corruption.

In a statement signed by its President and the Secretary respectively, Tom Buma and Ernest Ukpe on Thursday, the group said that Niger Delta people will support a president who will build “our battered economy” and support investment.

The group maintained that the people want a president who will clean up Ogoni land and other Niger Delta Communities affected by the impact of oil exploration and exploitation and develop the Niger Delta region and AkwaIbom in Particular.

They also expressed sadness over Nigeria’s
worsening economic statistics in recent times blaming the policies of President Muhammadu Buhari for the downward trend in the economy.

They further expressed sadness that despite high
expectations of Nigerians following the President’s promises of fighting corruption to a standstill when he was sworn in, in 2015, his party, APC still shields corrupt
politicians they had previously described as very corrupt.

According to them, “We are however surprised that the President is campaigning with
corrupt politicians like the former Senate Minority Leader Chief Godswill Akpabio and the NDDC MD Obong Nsima Ekere who have been enmeshed in misappropriation scandals.

“Senator Akpabio, Muslimu Obianikoro, Orji Uzor Kalu and all the previously “corrupt” PDP big wigs have now been sanctified after their defection to APC. Recall that Akpabio was charged over N180 billion
money laundering.”

The statement also read, “The President’s five point agenda and his economic policies have failed with no return on the country’s debt, the present administration has borrowed more than the Obasanjo,Yaradua and Goodluck Jonathan’s administrations in three years while electricity generation and distribution has worsened.

“Nigeria has become the poverty capital of the world overtaking India
with more than 50% living in extreme poverty, while the UN predicts
that Nigeria needs 11.9 people per minute to escape extreme poverty,
but presently has a deficit of 6.8 people every minute, i.e. 6.8 people enter into poverty every minute.

“According to statistics by NACCIMA, more than 800 companies shut down
within the three years of this current administration further denying
Nigerians of the much needed employment oppurtunities and ruining the
livelihood of many families.

“Under the present administration Nigeria has become the 2nd worst electricity supply nation in the world. The country has not added more than 1,000 MGW to its supply bank while Egypt in less than two years
have added 14,500 MGW of electricity, enough to provide uninterrupted power for over 40 million people.”

The group which sympathized but expressed concern over the President’s health condition also expressed their support for a President who would cope with rigorous demand of his office.

“Though we sympathize with the President as a human for his fragile health, Nigerians will want a very healthy and strong President who can cope with the rigorous demands of the office. We strongly doubt that the current state of health of the President will
let him cope with the demands of his office.

“As we welcome the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces Gen Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd.) for the flag off of his Presidential Campaign in Uyo on Friday we will want to remind him that the East/West Road has been abandoned while only N3 billion out of
the more than N130 Billion needed for Calabar/ Itu highway has been released to mobilize the contractor making the people of the region to believe that this could be another political road project.” the group said.

The post 2019 Presidency: Niger Delta Group Reveals the type of Candidate to Suppport first appeared on National Ambassador News.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has given reasons its candidate and former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, was absent at the signing of the peace accord by presidential candidates in the 2019 general elections.

Kola Ologbondiyan, PDP National Publicity Secretary, said in a statement on Tuesday, that the party was not represented at the event due to communication lapse between the National Peace Committee (NPC) and its national secretariat.

He said that the party remains committed to a peaceful election and has already launched investigations into the circumstances that could have resulted in the communication lapse.

Ologbondiyan said, “Nevertheless, it is instructive to state that our Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and the party are fully committed to a peaceful electoral process and elections in 2019.”

“Our Presidential candidate is known worldwide as a global ambassador of peace, who will always support processes that will engender peace in our country and the world over.”

He added that the party would visit the office of the National Peace Committee, look into the peace document and fulfil all necessary obligations towards the peace accord ahead of the coming polls.

The post 2019:Why Atiku was absent at Peace Accord signing first appeared on National Ambassador News.

Chief Bode George, former Deputy National Chairman of PDP, has attacked Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for distributing N10,000 to petty traders under the Federal Government’s ‘Trader Moni’ scheme.

George, said Osinbajo should be impeached and prosecuted for gutting the collective treasury.

The elder statesman spoke at a 1-day South- West Colloquium with the theme: “2019: The South- West Speaks,” held in Lagos on Monday.

George said, “If we all get up and work hard the people in every state can survive without any largess from the central government.”

He berated Osinbajo, for distributing N10,000 each market women, saying, “What kind of absurdity!”

“It was indeed an obscene display of executive recklessness and abuse of office. Pray, where did the money come from?

“Was it budgeted for in the appropriation law? In more civilized nations, Osinbajo would have been impeached and prosecuted for gutting our collective treasury.”

Also speaking at the event, a chieftain of Afenifere, Ayo Adebanjo, lamented the state of affair in the country.

Adebanjo, who was represented by Prof. Akintoye, said the Yoruba were endangered through a high degree of poverty, insecurity and hopelessness.

According to him, all manner of insults and harassment were now being unleashed on the race like never before in the structure called Nigeria.

“We must come together to protect our people,” he charged the elders and leaders at the gathering, saying that the race was not known to submit to failure and was not common for Yoruba to agree to poverty.

“Yoruba don’t know how to submit to failure to anything. It is also not common for Yoruba to agree to poverty.

“We Yoruba are going through a high degree of poverty right now, we are going through a high degree of insecurity and we are also going through a high degree of hopelessness.

“I have confidence that Yoruba would rise and fight the battle and we will achieve success,” he said.

The post 2019: Bode George speaks on why Osinbajo should be impeached first appeared on National Ambassador News.

Yoruba elders and leaders have promised to work with the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in the forthcoming election.

They also reiterated their call for restructuring of the country.

The Yoruba leaders said it was through restructuring that Nigeria could witness prevalence of equity, fairness and justice.

The leaders including a chieftain of pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere, Chief Ayo Adebanjo; former Deputy National Chairman of PDP, Chief Olabode George; Prof. Banji Akintoye, Senator Femi Okunronmu, Chief Ebenezer Babatope, among others, made their position known at a 1-day South- West Colloquium with the theme: “2019: The South- West Speaks,” coming out with a 12-point communique, read by Prince Uthman Sodipe.

The elders and leaders in their communiqué; noted that the Yoruba remains cohesive, indivisible and strengthened by a common cultural bond and ideological vision.

They maintained that, “The Yoruba believe in the restructuring of Nigerian union in order for the prevalence of equity, fairness and the dominating anchor of justice.

“The centre is too unwieldy, too disproportionate, effectively creating equity in the distribution of the collective wealth.

“We must encourage every state in our federation to grow on the momentum of the available resources within their soil.”

On their decision to adopt Alhaji Abubakar as the Yoruba candidate for the 2019 presidential poll, the communiqué added, “The Yoruba people resolved to adopt the candidature of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for the presidency in the 2019 elections in view of his support for the restructuring of Nigeria to create equal opportunities, fairness and justice for all stakeholders.”

The post 2019: Yoruba elders, leaders name their candidate, give reason first appeared on National Ambassador News.

Against speculations that some politicians in Akwa Ibom State are preparing to rig the 2019 general elections in the state, the Resident Electoral Commissioner(REC) of INEC, Barr.Mike Igini said the commission had put some measures to forestall any act of rigging or falsification of figures at the collation centres.

He added that once results are announced at the polling units in the presence of party agents and the voters, same would be electronically transmitted simultaneously to the central server, situation room where it will be difficult for any presiding officer to doctor the figures thereafter.

Addressing a press conference on weekend at INEC headquarters, Udo Udoma Avenue Uyo, the REC said arrangements are on top gear to inform all political parties to enlighten their agents on this development and get them ready to have a duplicate of the result from the polling unit.

According to him, “The result from the polling units upto the collation centres is very key, therefore we developed a platform in which once the results at polling units are announced, the same results would be transmitted straight to our central server.”

He also said that the form 60e which the presiding officers fill has been remodified such that the scores of all political parties would be reflected and the result pasted at the polling unit noting that the presiding officers will no longer have powers to compromise having been aware that the result is known by other parties.

Reacting on the issue of pressure from powers that be in the state who may want him to falsify figures in their favour, Igini said, “Well from my antecedence, people can testify who i am and what i stand for and that has been helpful. Infact there is no pressure, no local, state or federal might whatsoever as far as far i am in charge. The only might is the might of eligible voters whose votes must count.”

The Commissioner also revealed that during the profiling of the state, the commission uncovered 22 polling units
inappropriately located at some politicians homes adding that he quickly relocated them to public places were people can easily have access.

He maintained that the relocation became necessary to forestall the influence of the election process by the owners of such houses.

“This is a clear message to all stakeholders that you cannot have polling units at your private homes so that you can easily have access and influence the staff.

“If it is what they do in time past, all old things must pass away, that is why i said for 2019 in this state, there will be election, polling units will see original result sheets and ballot papers.” He said.

He said it would no longer be business as usual for politicians who
have perfected strategies to circumvent the electoral process even as the Card Readers have been reconfigured to reduce incidence of vote
rigging during and after the election.

Igini called on politicians and elites to play by the rules
regretting that they remained greatest problem of Nigeria adding that Electoral Tribunals in the country would become useless if politicians would accept polls results if the process is transparent.

The commissioner further stated that preparations for the 2019
elections commenced in 2015 with Akwa Ibom and the other states of the
federation keying into the Election Project Plan even as the display of voters register would commence in all the 2,981 polling units of the state from 6th of November, 2018.

He said that INEC would continue to maintain neutrality in the election process and leave a legacy of free, fair and transparent elections that would be set as precedence on future elections in the state.

He however lamented on the poor collection of PVCs in the state noting that a total of 175,995 PVCs out of 1,893,379 delivered are yet to be collected by their owners in the state.

According to him only 4,346 out of 85,226 PVCs delivered to the state in the first quarter of this year were collected by their owners while 49,313 out of 127,880 delivered in 2017 were collected with only
1,663,725 out of 1,680,957 collected in 2015.

The commissioner further stated that the commission would conduct elections in the troubled Etim Ekpo and Ukanafun local councils as peace have gradually returned to the areas following the amnesty programme initiated by the state government.

Meanwhile he said over 1.6 million voters had registered in Akwa Ibom while the figure could jump up to 1.8 million when the final figures would be released in January next year.

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command had vowed to wage war against anyone who engages in criminal acts or perpetrates violence during the 2019 general elections in the state.

It also added that it would take full charge and create a conducive atmosphere for credible elections devoid of violence and bloodshed.

The state police Commissioner, CP John Bassey Abang, fdc who stated this on Thursday at the Command’s headquarters Ikot-Akpanabia Uyo during his maiden media briefing stressed that any person found culpable of election violence shall be prosecuted based on extant laws of the state.

According to him, “the command will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that perpetrators of election violence and other criminal acts are brought to book in accordance with the laws of the land.”

He pledged his readiness to partner with sister security agencies and other critical stakeholders to actualize a free, fair and credible election and called on political stakeholders and their supporters to avoid politics of bitterness and thuggery.

The commissioner however assured all the duly registered political parties in the state of a level playing ground urging them to operate within the armbits of the rule of law as enshrined in the 1999 constitution(as amended).

He also promised to organize a sensitization workshop for police personnels bordering on respect for the fundamental Human Rights of all law abiding citizens in the state, saying that such would ensure decorum and civility in the conducts of the officers and men.

The newly posted Commissioner also said he would sustain and consolidate on the achievements of his predecessor Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi in restoring peace and normalcy in the war torn areas of EtimEkpo and Ukanafun local councils of the state.

He added that the state governments’s order on proscription of cultism still stands warning remaining miscreants to leave the state immediately or risk being flushed out.

“I have studied the indices of violent crimes in the state and realised that there is a nexus between cultism and violent crimes, hence, i will enforce to the later the state government’s order on the proscription of cultism and consolidate on the successes so far recorded in Etim Ekpo and Ukanafun local government areas of the state.

“Let me warn criminal elements in the state to leave the state in one piece immediately or be flushed out. ” He warned.

Abang who is also the 24th commissioner in the state promised to serve the state professionally and in accordance with international best practices where the rule of law prevails.

“My model will be intelligence gathering mechanisms, improve on our policing capacity and reinvigorate community policing which the IGP has ensured that all commands implement. I will also ensure that our response time to distress calls are swift and timely.” He promised.

The post 2019: Police warn against perpetrating Election violence in A’Ibom first appeared on National Ambassador News.

One of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential aspirant Dr Sule Lamido has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of dehumanizing Nigerians like he did in 1983.

Lamido said this in Benin City, Edo State on Thursday while addressing delegates ahead of the October National Convention of the party.

He insisted that Buhari who staged a coup in 1983, removed the political class and clamped them into prisons, “is the same Buhari doing the same thing today, dehumanizing humanity.”

Lamido urged Nigerians to join hands with his party to rescue the country from the clutches of President Buhari and the All Progressives Congress, APC.

“PDP made some mistakes. Some of its members were reckless but they are humans. Time will cure us because they are humans. Some us are calling Buhari’s name because we don’t have institutions. The economy is very weak, no security, no bureaucracy, and no standing institutions to protect all of us in terms of justice and fairness. One single human being is appropriating Nigeria as if it is his own.

“Today, this party of saints called the APC is a party of pains, hunger, anger and evil and where are we today? It is a party which has no historical foundation, no philosophy, ideology.

“Buhari who staged a coup in 1983, removed the political class and clamped them into prisons is the same Buhari doing the same thing, today, dehumanizing humanity

“Today, we are more divided as a people. There is more poverty in the country than it was in the past; more pains and agonies. APC has no history like the PDP. It is a mere political contraption.

“Buhari and the APC have no vision, no human compassion and all they like doing is to inflict pains on Nigerians. They want to destroy people’s living standard to a level that they will all become perpetually poor.

“Leadership is geared towards raising people, motivate and give hope and confidence. All those that makes APC government thick are former PDP members.

“Nigeria is for us and not for APC, Lamido or for PDP, as such nobody can come and destroy the country. Be on the watch out. My aspiration is not a desperation. But you and I have been in PDP. We have been demoralized, gone through hell, coerce but yet we never left the party.”

The post Lamido carpets Buhari first appeared on National Ambassador News.

A Nigerian journalist and author, Dele Momodu, has shared what he says is Senate President Bukola Saraki’s strategy on how to defeat President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.

The publisher of Ovation Magazine in his weekly column, Pendulum said he had initially omitted Saraki’s name from the list of potential presidential candidates because of his “geographical location of Kwara and his own cultural roots naturally”.

“Saraki’s roadmap to victory is simple. Buhari is going to play the usual ethnic card that only a candidate from North-West can win a Presidential election in Nigeria,” Momodu wrote.

“He concedes that it may be difficult for any candidate from North-West and North-East to compete or beat Buhari hands down, despite the fact that PDP parades more experienced politicians and competent aspirants. What is then needed is to keep North Central on lock-down with a popular candidate from that zone.

“He believes that it may be a waste of time and resources trying to compete in the President’s traditional enclave other than to strive to get up to 25%. PDP should instead focus on mobilising the forces from the opposite direction and lock-down four out of the six geo-political zones.

“If the PDP presents just anyone, there may be voter apathy and Buhari would coast home to victory. As to where his deputy will come from, it would have to be from the South-East/South-south axis, since he has already covered the South-West, technically.”

Speaking of the corruption accusations against him and how the youth feel about him, Saraki was quoted as saying: “That is my biggest task because they are my catchment group. I know many have been brainwashed and I don’t blame them.

“You know when you tell some lies repeatedly, it becomes the truth to some people. For example, they say I’m the most corrupt man on earth. I have looted Kwara state dry. All cheap but dangerous lies. What’s the worth of Kwara State that anyone would have billions to steal? I was born into business.”

Saraki had while declaring his intention to vie for the position of president on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Saraki said he would lead the fight against poverty if elected.

The post 2019: How Saraki plans to defeat Buhari in 2019- Dele Momodu first appeared on National Ambassador News.

The Joint Committee on Electoral Matters in the National Assembly, has rejected the N189 billion proposed Budget of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Arising from a closed-door meeting at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja, the committee directed the electoral body to revert to the N143 billion proposed by President Muhammadu Buhari in his letter to the National Assembly.

Buhari had proposed the approval of the INEC budget in trances of N143 and the balance in 2019, but the Electoral body in its own proposal, requested that the total sum be approved and released in one fell swoop.

The Chairman of the Committee Suleiman Nazif (APC, Bauchi) who briefed newsmen after the meeting with INEC, said that INEC has been advised to return on Tuesday with a budget proposal that will reflect the N143 Billion Presented by President Buhari.

“The joint committee has sat and has deliberated the position to adopt the N143 billion as presented by Mr. President at this point in time it is also the wish of this committee that INEC represents their budget of N143bn as requested by Mr. President.

Therefore INEC has an opportunity to reprioritize and this committee will be ready to receive them. This committee will be reconvening tomorrow (Tuesday) by 1:00 O’clock so that we can consider the presentation by INEC,” he said.

The Commission is now expected to return on Tuesday with a harmonized budget figure for speedy approval by the committee.

Senator representing Plateau North in the National Assembly an former Governor of Plateau State Jonah Jang has declared his intention to contest for the presidential position on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.

A close associate of Senator Jang, and former Secretary to Plateau State Government, Professor Shedrach Best, made this known in an interview with the Tribune newspaper.

According to him the former governor has submitted his letter of intent to the National Secretariat of the PDP in Abuja and also made a declaration at his constituency.

He said Senator Jang joined the race after a wide consultation in the country especially in the Middle Belt which is his immediate constituency as far as the presidential race is a concern.

“After he submitted his letter of intent to contest at the National Secretariat of the PDP in Abuja, he had a wide consultation and meeting with his followers in his constituency and got the nod of the people to contest for the number one seat.

“Senator Jang decided to throw his hat into the ring having examined the state of the nation especially the insecurity, energy, bad economy and lack of purposeful direction by those in leadership positions in the country. He joined the race primarily to make a difference,” he said.

Professor Best, who said Jang had the full support of the Middle Belt for his aspiration added that the fact that the geopolitical zone has not enjoyed representation through electoral governance further propelled Senator Jang to indicate his interest to contest.

“PDP has zoned presidency to the North, the North Central otherwise called the Middle Belt has not enjoyed representation through electoral governance, it is the belief of Senator Jang that since North Central is part of the North it should be given an opportunity this time around,” he said.

Professor Best further disclosed that the former governor will start campaign this week from Plateau State, where it will be taken to other parts of the country.

Bukola Saraki , Senate President has confirmed he has been consulting and he is considering running against President Muhammadu Buhari in the February 2019 election.

He made the confirmation in a wide-ranging interview with Bloomberg in Abuja.

Saraki who had evaded the question on his interest in the country’s number one position at a press conference last week, was more forthcoming in the interview:

“I am consulting and actively considering it,” Saraki, 56, said in the interview held at his residence in the Nigerian capital, Abuja.

“I believe I can make the change,” he added.

Since last week, the Senate President had visited two former Nigerian leaders, General Ibrahim Babangida and Chief Olusegun Obasanjo at their hilltop homes in Minna and Abeokuta. But he had been coy about his missions to the homes of the two former leaders, who are also opposed to President Muhammadu Buhari and had issued statements, asking him not to run next year.

After meeting Babangida, Saraki tweeted that he only “dropped in” to pay his respects to “General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida. Always happy to be with a father and leader”. In Abeokuta, he said he came to have a look at the monumental Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, which was formally opened in April 2017, the event which he said, he missed.

Saraki who switched from the ruling All Progressives Congress to his old party, the Peoples Democratic Party along with a dozen renegade senators in July, will need to secure the PDP nomination. And he has at least six aspirants to contend with.

Among them are Atiku Abubakar, a former vice-president, who quit the ruling party much earlier to the PDP; Ibrahim Dankwambo, governor of Gombe State, Ahmad Makarfi, a former senator and former governor of Kaduna State. There are also Sule Lamido, a former governor of Jigawa State; Aminu Tambuwal, governor of Sokoto state, who is yet to make a formal declaration of intent and Attahiru Bafarawa, also former governor of Sokoto state.

The party’s primary election is due between 5 October and 6 October. Political pundits are predicting a bruising contest among the aspirants.

Saraki had been at odds with Buhari and the APC leaders, since he emerged as senate president in June 2015. He got the post by playing out many members of his party who were gathered elsewhere for a meeting with Buhari. He struck an alliance with the PDP to claim the position. In return, he traded the senate vice-presidency to the opposition senator, Ike Ekweremadu.

Saraki claimed in the interview with Bloomberg that investors and citizens have lost confidence in President Buhari. The latter claim has been punctured by the wave of victories recorded by the APC in governorship and senatorial bye elections in recent times.

Pundits also believed that investors could not have lost confidence in Buhari’s administration, if it was able to raise record amounts of money in oversubscribed Eurobond sales and it is attracting foreign loans to rebuild rail, ports and power infrastructure, which the PDP abandoned in 16 years of running the country.

The Senate president in the interview said the blockade of the National Assembly gates by hooded DSS operatives on August 7, was contrived by the executive to impeach him, despite the prompt denial by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, the APC and and the sacking of DSS boss, Lawal Daura.

“If a government can go and lock up an arm of government — and it’s never happened in our history — we should all be very concerned,” Saraki said.

“We should not be surprised that they would use security agencies for elections.”

Saraki, who is now the national leader of the PDP, believes the party has learnt its lesson from the loss in 2015. And conversely, he thinks the APC has not learnt from its victory.

“While negotiating with the PDP “we listed a number of issues. We talked about how to sustain and improve the fight against corruption; the issue of providing more powers to the states; inclusion and having a more nationalistic approach on things we do; to continue to improve the environment that will ensure investments. We listed a number of items during the discussions with the PDP, and there is a written agreement to that. We trust that we can hold them to that.

“We would ensure that the party is strong on security. The APC too have not done well on the issue of security. We have the opportunity with the right kind of presidential candidate and president to provide the leadership for the party. The party has a good opportunity to lead the country in the right direction.”

The post 2019: I want Buhari’s job, says Saraki first appeared on National Ambassador News.

Senate President Bukola Saraki visited the hilltop mansion of former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun state capital, on Monday.

Accompanied by some of his associates, the nation’s number three citizen went into a meeting with the elder statesman.

At the end of the meeting, Saraki told journalists he was in Abeokuta to see Obasanjo because he missed the official opening of the multi -billion dollar project of the library.

He described the Library as a beautiful edifice that all Nigerians should be proud of.

“You know I missed the official opening of the library and that is why I have decided to come and see the place and honestly it is beautiful. We are very proud of what he has done here,” he said.

The visit comes five days after Saraki visited the Minna residence of former military President Ibrahim Babaginda.

The senate president also met with chairmen of 45 political parties last week.

Saraki’s trip to the influential Nigerians happened after he hinted at running for president.

The lawmaker defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) earlier in the month.

Obasanjo and Babginda have asked President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek reelection.

Both men issued statements where they expressed dissatisfaction with some crucial issues under Buhari.

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Timi Frank, has alleged that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration is planning to freeze the accounts of major opposition leaders ahead of the 2019 general elections to render the opposition party financially incapacitated.

Frnak specifically named former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, Senate President Bukola Saraki, Rivers state Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, Sokoto state Governor Aminu Tambuwal, National Chairman of PDP, Uche Secondu and former Governor of Kano state, Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso among others, as victims of the purported plot.

Daily Post reports on Thursday that, Frank also mentioned the Speaker House of Representative, Yakubu Dogara, who is believed to be planning his exit from the APC soon, as another victim.

Apart from the major opposition leaders, Comrade Frank revealed that some businessmen and women who are sympathetic to the opposition parties are also targets of the said plot.

Recall, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had frozen the account of the Benue State Government.

This happened soon after Governor Samuel Ortom dumped the ruling party for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Frank, who recently decamped to the PDP, alleged that the Buhari government was going this hard against opposition leaders but not aware that he “is surrounded by thieves who have looted the treasury even more than Abacha military government.”

The Bayelsa born politician, in the statement, said information at his disposal revealed that the APC government is using the EFCC to raise different allegations against major opposition leaders and serving governors across the country in order to demoralised the opposition leaders and render them incapacitated financially.

According to him, the recent reported freezing of the accounts of two PDP states (Benue and Akwa Ibom) formed part of the plot to ensure that states being controlled by the opposition parties were deprived from having resources to run government and blackmail them into joining the ruling party.

He challenged the rationale behind the freezing of Akwa Ibom state account barely few hours after a former governor of the state defected to the ruling party.

Frank alleged that the new bargaining power by the APC government was to blackmail those who are having one corruption allegation or the other into joining the party for such cases to be forgotten.

The former APC deputy spokesperson called on Nigerians and the international communities not to keep silence in the face of what he called “ongoing impunity and threat to democratic system of government in Nigeria”.

“Even though after serious pressures we gathered that EFCC had unfrozen the accounts they earlier illegally step down, we are in the known that they will soon start with private individuals but whatever game plan the ruling party might be plotting against the major opposition leaders and other private individuals, Nigerians will rise against it,” he said.

While warning the government not to embark on any act of illegality in desperation to win the 2019 election, Frank said Nigerians and international communities were fully aware of all the happenings in the country and will surely resist evil plot against the people.

The post 2019: Timi Frank accuses Buhari govt, reveals plan against Saraki, Atiku, Wike, Dogara, others first appeared on National Ambassador News.

National chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Uche Secondus, has said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is sinking.

Secondus who was speaking at a PDP rally organised for Atiku Abubakar, former vice-president, in Adamawa, said the lives of Reformed APC (R-APC) leaders are in danger.

Secondus said the APC government is threatening everyone that opposes it, adding that “they can’t kill everybody”.

“PDP is determined to end the circle of continued bloodletting in the country,” Ike Abonyi, media aide to Secondus, quoted the chairman as saying on Saturday.

“A sign of a drowning party, the APC administration is threatening everybody, the lives of reformed APC leaders are now in danger but we are not afraid, they can’t kill everybody.”

Several national assembly members belong to the R-APC which is led by Buba Galadima, a former ally of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Secondus also said the PDP will provide a level playing ground for all aspirants seeking to hold public office. He said the PDP will create jobs for the youth and women because “we know you are not lazy”.

The PDP chairman said the federal government has not been able to release funds to the states for projects “because of confusion and corruption that have bedeviled the administration”.

He said the PDP is determined to rescue Nigeria from the APC and the “mess it has created”.

The post APC is sinking , says Secondus first appeared on National Ambassador News.

National chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC),Adams Oshiomhole, has said that the Benue state governor Samuel Ortom, , is not leaving the ruling party.…

National chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC),Adams Oshiomhole, has said that the Benue state governor Samuel Ortom, , is not leaving the ruling party.

Oshiomhole while describing Ortom as a man of honour, said the Benue governor who left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over three years ago cannot return there now.

Ortom had on Monday said he was considering joining a new party since he had been given a “red card” in the APC.

But Oshiomole said the APC does not have a red card, therefore it can not give what it does not have.

Oshiomhole spoke after meeting with Ortom at the APC secretariat on Thursday.

“For PDP hovering round they must know that only people without honour will vomit in the morning and in the afternoon, they convert it to lunch. People like Ortom who have honour cannot leave PDP three and half years ago, with his eyes open, and then there is some tension in his master bedroom, he is thinking of returning to People Deceiving People? I mean that cannot be an option,” he said.

“He is a man of honour. He knows that once you make one step forward, you take the second step to consolidate the first step and that is the way to go.”

He said the issue between Ortom and George Akume, a former governor, would be resolved and there would be peace in the Benue chapter of the party.

“Senator Akume is a respected leader of the party. He is former governor and a current senator. He will recognise the need for peace and we have what it takes to make peace,” he said.

“In Benue, we are going for win-win solution. Governor Ortom is not going anywhere. He is a very prominent member of our party and we appreciate his leadership in Benue. We will do everything possible to help those who have issues to resolve the issues. The only thing will we not accept is anybody leaving the house we have toiled to build together.

“APC does not even have red card, so we can’t give what we don’t have. We recognise that there could be a legitimate legal issue like agreement, disagreement and contest. All these we are familiar with, they are evidence that we are a democratic party. When leaders have disagreement, it is to help them and find a common ground and issues in Benue are not so fundamental that cannot be resolved. We are very confident that we will resolve them.”

Ortom was among the three APC governors who met with PDP leaders in Ilorin, Kwara state capital, on Wednesday.

Also in attendance was Senate President Bukola Saraki. The politicians met during the burial of the mother of Kawu Baraje, leader of the nPDP,a faction of the APC.

The post Ortom will not leave APC, says Oshiomhole first appeared on National Ambassador News.

The Chief of Staff, Imo State Government House, Uche Nwosu, has declared that once Governor Rochas Okorocha leaves office, he would not come back to dictate to him (Nwosu) how he runs the affairs of the state.

Nwosu said this while insisting that he will be Imo State governor because he was divinely ordained for the job.

The aspirant who is a son-inlaw to Okorocha, has since declared his governorship ambition on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Asked in an interview with the Sun if he was sure he would not be a puppet to Governor Okorocha, Nwosu, said, “No, no, no, no! People don’t know Rochas. The Rochas I know very well, once he leaves that office, time will not allow him to come back.”

Speaking further on issues surrounding his ambition, the aspirant added, “The Governor has never championed zoning at the national level. What the governor said is that after President Buhari wins, then everybody is free to come out – that after President Buhari’s second term, Igbo will come and they need the support of the north.

“He said whoever that comes, need the support of the other zone. So, zoning does not bring out the quality of a good candidate because you can zone it to a particular zone and at the end of the day, you bring out somebody who is weak, whereas there is the best candidate from another zone.”

The post 2019: Okorocha will not dictate to me how to run Imo, Nwosu declares first appeared on National Ambassador News.
